A little early for me, but it is here, and I put the box in the shed. I will hopefully pot them up next week, if it is warmer and has stopped raining!
(I did request end of summer delivery.)

and one that has no picture in the database...

http://wiki.irises.org/TbAthru...

I did not request all of these as some of them "came along for the ride"!

And now I have quite a collection of pastels!

Happenstance was a replacement, as the one I had died. Pinkity is hanging in there, so now I have another in case it doesn't make it.

I really like Wright's Flight, Impressionist, Ascent of Angels, Pinkity, Queen of the Mist, Kitchen Sink Too, Dawning. Sunny Disposition, and Happenstance. I may like more of them as they grow...we'll see.

Nice choices Evelyn. Thumbs up Are you going to plant them together or find a spot for them in your various themed beds?

Robin ~ They are first going into pots and then I will see how they do. Right now my beds are full, but some need to be removed as some have died.

I will be digging any irises that need dividing and making new plans.....

We will see later on. I have one new bed that I am beginning to prepare. That will be for seedlings, which need to be separated from their crowded one gallon pots. I will first pot them individually and then go from there.

My first order arrived today. It was from Blue J and I think their move to New Mexico was a good choice.
The rhizomes are bigger than before and look very healthy. They must have added a number of bonuses because I just put more than 20 in their water soak! Some were doubles. We'll be planting in the morning.

There was one more on the order, but it had to be substituted (with my full approval). Except I forgot to tell Sheri I dislike Space Agers and the one received has horns. It will be on its way to a new home come September. Hilarious!

Nice "boxes", y'all. Evelyn, I thought of 'Decadence' when I saw the 'Impressionist' ! Are you going to "group" your pastels & try to place some contrasting, or complimentary colors, near one another ?
Jan, that 'Moonlit Waters' is one, I've had on my mind, for quite some time & will hopefully get one in the near future.
Good to see you're interested in some species, Monty !
Debra, the 'Jewel of Omar' was a nice bonus.
I'm about all spent out, after doing an order for some roses. This yard had nearly absolutely nothing, spare for a few daffodils. It'll take me some time, as there wasn't a single flower bed, or border. Not even a single shrub, out front.
Near the driveway, an old tree had to be cut, down to the ground & was over two feet diameter. Which then lost much of summer afternoon shade, due to it's demise. But sure does make it ( almost a bit too ) sunny ! Still a huge stump & roots that go, who knows where, or how far..

Shawn ~ I have grouped the similars together for comparison to see which ones do the best. Any that don't do well, or that I don't really want, will be eliminated. Grouping similars is not as artistic as some of you have done. I also have placed a number of them in my perennial beds. I will try to take some better pictures today.

Hi Evelyn. I guess you are going to "trial," the newer ones first, then. I just used to " at least attempt" to make some sense of flower colors, grouped together, such as your purchase of mostly pastels, for instance... Though I know you have some, growing in rows & others in beds.
Just wondered. As I was trying to think of how I might give some thought about where to place mine, as I've seen some very nice combinations before & may look very nicely, when placed near one another, if flowering is approximately happening, simultaneously.
Otherwise, yes I like the look when placed in beds, along with other flowers, too. As there really isn't much of anything here, to work with, & was trying to get a few ideas on how I ought to plant them. Perhaps , I'll start out, in just one bed, grown together in a group. Then later on, after increasing, plant some of them, in a mixed border, also..

Those old forest trees really are a sight to see ! I've been up near King's Canyon before & apparently still have nice memories of being there & how awesomely beautiful the trees just really are.Makes for a nice background Evelyn, that's for sure. I do tend to recall a big temperature difference, between the Valley & the Sierras.
The East coast, seems so much different, than out West &the Appalachian mountains , to the West of here don't quite compare, to the Sierra Nevada. But the views are nice & there is a reason why they call them the 'Blue Ridge', as it sorta does have it's own "bluish" color about it, in the air.

I too got a Blue J box and agree with Jan that the move has produced healthier looking rhizomes. Now if there were more roots....

All older Burseens in my box and 2 Blyth intermediates (Lyrique and Zing Me) plus replacement for Moonglade.
