So I acquired this plant abandoned in a wooded area. So far it has come to life and it is doing much better. It has been repotted twice now, both times keeping the root intact.

However recently I have seen this white root looking substance around the base. Is this okay?

What a great plant to find! It looks like you've made it nice and happy. It likes full sun when you do it slowly. Lots of water while it's growing, and give it a rest in the winter. I can't see anything to be concerned with.

This would be a better picture. It looks like a Spanish moss under the soil.

I believe the white root-like substance is Mycorrhizal fungi. They are very beneficial to plants. I always find them in my pots of mature adenium.

That is excellent to hear. I'll do some research on it for the benefits.

I would make a new post, but as I am new I am limited.

What is the best place to buy desert rose seeds? I've seen Etsy, but you really can not find these in stores like my fruit trees.

Welcome @maxbergen! Can you let us know where you live? State or country and growing zone. That would help us answer your questions more accurately. Smiling

I ordered adenium seeds from Thai-Plumeria in Thailand. Here is the link to their website:
http://www.thai-plumeria.com/p...

I ordered 100 adenium Obesum mixed seeds (100 seeds) for $12.00 including shipping.
I received them promptly, however I have not planted them yet. Someone here recommended this company ( just can't remember who) Confused Smiling

Thai Plumeria is an excellent source of adeniums, plumeria and their seeds. Sometimes slow in emails but will eventually get it done.

My Adenium is dropping its leaves. It was gorgeous but now I am concerned. I inherited several of these and am loving working with them but can't find much information about them online. I live in Weston FL. I didn't think to bring them in when the weather turned cold and now I'm scared that I have let them die. If anyone can help me out I would be very grateful. Thank you!

I have owned this plant for 5 years. I transplanted 2 years ago but it has never bloomed despite looking very healthy. Each year it develops buds (red) but these eventually wither and fall off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dan

That looks like a bud. Give us a clue about how/where it's growing.

We live in north central NJ (Zone 6). I keep the plant indoors Oct through April and then outdoors April to Oct. While outdoors, the plant is in full sunlight from 10 am to 6 pm.

Sounds like good growing conditions. Enjoy their fat bellies until the flowers develop?

Do you withhold water and let it go dormant while indoors? That could be the problem. They need that rest time.

I water less in winter and most leaves leaves drop. Every branch forms buds with 5 or 6 buds per branch and I can see the flower will be red but the buds eventually just wither and fall off. I will patiently keep waiting. What is best fertilizer to promote flowering? I generally use an all purpose fertilizer, weekly, weakly.

I'm no expert, but maybe you are over feeding. I treat mine the same as my sun loving orchids. Water once a week then spray at 1/4 strength with orchid food. They only get occasional watering when dormant. They are basically treated as any succulent /cactus in my area, but we don't do freeze.

Thank you. I will keep you posted and hopefully some flowers in 2021! The plant is beautiful even w/o flowers.
