Fit for a King appears to have frillier standards.

I guess it will stil be, "Like Gay Parasol", unless something closer or truly identical. Could it be a seedling? I know I never ordered it.

Gay Parasol has light lavender standards. This iris has pure white standards. Also the standards seam a bit less frilly.



Still, it is very close...

If you look at your picture close, you see a slight lavender area on the style arms. When I had the plant, the standards looked more white then lavender.

You see that same color on the style arms on this picture too.

Tom ~ Thank you. That picture is really closer. I wonder where they came from. This is their first time blooming, but I had them for a while. The year before, I put them in large pots to grow larger, then planted them out the following year (last year). I was really surprised to see them.

Sometimes the wrong one is sent.

Or it could have been a bonus from years ago. They didn't bloom for several years.

Do you think it is safe to give it the name Gay Parasol? I will not buy any for comparison.

If you aren't going to compare it then don't give any away as Gay Parasol. That would be spreading a possibly mis-named iris.

Leslie ~ For all I know, it could be a seedling that has hung around long enough to bloom. It's is not something that I would have ordered, but I do not dislike it.

Evelyn, I second the tentative ID as Gay Parasol (was first thought when I saw the beginning post); and agree with you--if you happen to share, it should be as a NOID.

I have no idea where it came from...if it was from a vendor or it is a seedling. It is beginning to "grow on me"....

It is quite lovely. I would keep it too.
