All the hanging/mounted orchids are dancing right now. Felt that rolling earthquake. Carol, I'm sure you felt it as well

It was a 6.4 they say, but I a very lightly populated area. So far no reports of injury or damage. It sure got your attention though.

I'm glad you're all ok, with no damage. We went through the San Fernando earthequake in the LA area in 1971.We had lots of glass breakage and stuff tossed on the floor from the cabinets. We had a lot of floor to ceiling bookcases that were emptied on the floor. Others in town had buildings damaged and roadways were damaged. It was quite scary. We had a 2 year old girl who slept through all the rolling and noise of stuff breaking!

Had a good one here on 3/28/14. Centered about half mile from the house, 5.1
Lots of broken vases, glass... inside. Learned a valuable lesson. It had knocked Lynda off the couch. She was on the floor between the couch and coffee table when the LARGE picture hanging over the couch came crashing down. Would have really hurt her if not killed her. Since then everything is secured.

There is a product called Quake Wax. You can use a bit of it to secure vases and glassware down to your shelves or hutches. It holds them very well through earthquakes. We have even had some big ones here in NM, so all of my glassware is glued down. It's easy to remove and doesn't hurt anything.

Oh man, I saw the quake on the news and were hoping everyone was fine. Glad to hear all our safe and sound.
You guys are how far away and you STILL felt it? Yikes.
I thought hurricanes were bad.

Over 100 mi. , Bill, and the further away you are, the longer it seems to last. At least it ends. The fireworks started an hour before dark, and I feel like I'm in the middle of a war zone. This will last until at least midnight. Just almost dark now. Sighing!

100 miles+, that is a lot of rocking and rolling!

I only had one idiot close last night with 💥. Just one!
He started about 9:05, a few minutes before sunset and continued for an hour and a half! An hour and a half!! Nothing was airborne, so this was all on the ground. Just to make noise!! Noise, noise noise!
I hope he is real happy this morning. I spent all that money just to make noise and yet I did not blow anything up. So stupid.
He had a better show last year. Some things went airborne. He lives on the street behind me, one house down.

There were large fireworks stands on every corner around here and I was sure we would be hearing the noise for hours but we only heard some coming from the beach for about 10 minutes total. We were amazed, turned out to be the quietest Fourth ever. I was remembering how my old dog used to be so terrified on holidays.

Well my female cat Rosie said it was no big deal and was on my lap as usual.
My boy Jack took about 5 minutes of noise and went to hide under my bed. He came out about 15 minutes after the noise was over.

You all are lucky! I heard the last big one at 12:20 last night, and they'll be finding a few leftovers for a while. Some beautiful displays though. I didn't hear one siren all night. Smiling

Good grief, it seems the ground is still shakin' out there on the left coast. Stay safe folks. I have only been through a few 2's and it was disconcerting, I can't imagine the ones you are experiencing.

We're in an area where people shoot off guns in the air. Scary! We stay inside and hope none will come down in our area.
