With this heat wave, it's so nice to think of planting in the fall, planning ahead for a great spring show, thinking about those wonderful Peruvian amaryllises for holiday gifts...

WE WILL NOT SHIP BULBS. Delivery generally works out for pickup at the Fall Swap (date/place to be determined). Otherwise, pickup party in Frederick!

ADR has great bulbs at wholesale prices. We need to order entire boxes/bags of bulbs. Purchasing as a group lets us split larger quantities and share in the savings.

We've been doing this for many years, so those who have participated before know the drill... If you haven't participated before, I'll ask for your money via PayPal before placing the order. Otherwise you can pay at pickup. If there are any issues with payment, just keep communicating with me. Things happen, and as long as we keep talking we can generally work it out!

This is a group buy or "co-op," so we all SHARE THE RISK as well as the reward. If something unforseen happens and we don't get good bulbs, YOU WILL STILL OWE $. We save money as a group, and we could possibly lose money as a group. I'm not a retailer and can't afford to "absorb" a loss. This has never actually happened, but I need to be very clear on this up front.

Post below about what bulbs interest you. You won't be able to see the prices unless you have an account with ADR (I can see the prices, and I think Rick can also), but we'll look up prices for you.

When you post an order, please make sure your post includes the word "order" and if possible indicate a quantity range -- ie, "I want to order Royal Blue Tulips, at least 50, but to get these I'd be willing to go up to 150." When splitting boxes & bags of bulbs, we often end up juggling numbers at the end.

Let the games begin!

Prices pulled from former thread:

Chionodoxa:
- Chionodoxa 'Luciliae' 150 for $18
- Chionodoxa 'Luciliae Alba' 150 for $19.50

Corydalis:
- Beth Evans 150 for $45.00
- Purple Bird 150 for $64.50

Daffodils:
- 'Avalon' 75 for $36.75
- British Gamble 75 for $42.75
- 'Carlton' (yellow, large cupped) 75 for $24.75 at ADR great naturalizer
- 'Cheerfulness' , 75 for $24.75
- Ice Follies. 75 for $26.25 or 250 for $75, better performer for southern states
- 'Martinette', 75 for $25.50, has tall stems and more visual punch
- 'Mt. Hood', 75 for $33
- 'Prom Dance', pale yellow petals with a deeper yellow cup, 75 for $30 from ADR
- 'Sempre Avanti' (white, orange cup), 250/$75 at ADR
- 'Smiling Sun', 75 for $32.25
- 'Yellow Cheerfulness', 75 for $24.75

Tulipa:
- Long lasting all season mix: 500 for $165
- Viridiflora 'Green Power' 100 for $56.90
- Viridiflora 'Spring Green' 50 for $20
- Miniature 'Dasystemon Tarda' 500 for $80
- Miniature 'Saxatillis' 500 for $115

Amaryllis:
The waxed (jumbo) bulbs come in a case of 17 for $186.83. That's $11 per bulb. They will still need something hold them upright, although that could be up to the recipient. Jumbo Peruvian bulbs are 5 to 6 dollars, plus a couple dollars for a terra-cotta potif you're starting them. So the waxed bulbs are easier to give as gifts, but cost a bit more. And they cannot be grown on for the next year. They are definitely a novelty, but I'm not personally a fan. Totally willing to add a case to our order though. I think they will sell out quickly.

Rick are you interested in splitting the box of Corydalis Purple Bird or do you want all 150? If interested in splitting, I'd do that instead of getting a whole box for myself.

Here's my list:
Tulips: Rembrandt 100, Lily flowering "Budlight" 15
Muscari: "Dark Eyes" 50, Armeniacum 1250.
Leucojum: Gravity Giant 25.
Daff: Small-cupped Daff "Pheasant's Eye" 25.
Narcissi: Miniature "Thalia" 25.
Iris: Miniature "Danfordiae" 10.
Allium Giant: "Gladiator" 10.
Amaryllis: Peruvian Bulk Asst.

The small amounts (10-25 bulbs) are for my neighbor, who is willing to bump up numbers somewhat. If these amounts are simply too modest, I may suggest she order from John Scheepers. LMK. Thanks!

Wow, you all were just waiting patiently!

Thanks for porting those prices over, Rick. Sorry for jumping ship -- Dave had asked me some time ago to do these group buys here rather than on the MAG forum.

Looking at who posted, I'm assuming whole box quantities but that you might be willing to do a little sharing.. or maybe we'll get up to flat quantities on some of these.

Lisa, I can split a box of Muscari 'Dark Eyes' with your neighbor.

Terri, can you slide Lisa's neighbor 15 of your Bud Light tulips, or does that throw off your balance if tulips are all going in same area?

Jill, I'd be willing to split anything on my list except the iris reticulata Harmony. Really interested in splitting the Corydalis Purple Bird. Also I definitely don't want more than 100 of the Budlight Tulips, and I now see that it is only available in the 500 quantity. If there is no one else to make up the remaining 400, just knock that one off my list.

Prices for Lisa's list
Tulips: Rembrandt 100 for $36
Lily flowering "Budlight" 15 for $6.30, but so far have "sold" only 115 from tray of 500, smallest quantity available

Muscari: "Dark Eyes" 50 (150 for $32.50, 75 for $16.25)

Lisa, I'd rather split a box of M. paradoxum (150 for $24) or M. 'Peppermint' (150 for $22.50) with your neighbor, because they are cheaper than 'Dark Eyes'. But I'll do a 50/50 split on a box of 'Dark Eyes', if she doesn't want to switch.

M. armeniacum 1250 flat for $125
Leucojum: Gravity Giant 25 for $10. (100 for $40)
Daff: Small-cupped Daff 'Actea' or "Pheasant's Eye" 25 for $8.25. (75 for $24.75)
Narcissi: Miniature "Thalia" 25 for $9.75 (50 for $19.50)

Iris: Miniature "Danfordiae" 10. -- I've never heard good things about this species variety thriving, even in rock gardens; I think it's "picky"and would recommend against it. Anybody else want to chime in on this?

Amaryllis: Peruvian Bulk Asst.
Allium Gladiator 15 for $37.50 -- Lisa, tell neighbor that at $2.50 per bulb (for a giant allium), she can afford the whole box if need be. But hold the phone, 'cause I bet somebody will snap up the remaining 5.

Lisa's neighbor liked the Budlight tulips but only wanted 15. Gotta say, it's a really pretty one -- tulip shape, white with lemon yellow "flames"

Jill,
I need a price for Winter Aconite (Eranthis cilicica). I hadn't used my ADR account in several years, and it's been deleted. (Since I don't have a re-sale #, I can't apply for a new account.)

Talked to neighbor and she is willing to bump up Allium order to 15 bulbs. She says forget Muscari "Dark Eyes," she will buy Armeniacum from me. (Is my math right? If she wants 50, then her cost is $5, or $0.10/bulb?) She was slightly disappointed about "Budlight" but no biggie and she appreciates insight on "Danfordiae," which is now a no-go.
