If one goes out soon after sunrise ,camera in hand, there are interesting lighting possibilities and since your daylilies wake up slowly photos other than the universal passport face-on style can make for interesting opportunities.

Sometimes a cloudy day can lead to great exposures as the dynamic range of the light on your subject is reduced to something closer to what your camera can capture.

On sunny days, the sunlight can push that range beyond your camera's abilities. My shots that look like the bloom is almost suspended in darkness take advantage of the sun's intense light overload to virtually erase the background.

This shot is an example of the first situation with reduced dynamic range allowing the camera to strut its stuff.

Taken in the evening of August first, was shocked to see rebloom on Siloam Double Classic. At 8:15 p.m., it looks perfect even after a long hot day.

Final Touch also presented a surprise with a poly at this late date.

Charley, you got me back! I was just fixin to google Wayne Gretzky then I remembered why it sounded familiar!

NOID FFO. Seems late for a mid season opener. Only The Jury's Out is left to FFO. Another short scaped plant.

Mike: the flower color is matched to the picture on the camera. I know that different displays render colors differently. Computer displays the color somewhat differently. Also the sunrise lighting may have altered the perceived color. Of course, edit: "after further review" it is not actually Jolyene Nichole. close edit. Probably be tossed anyway due to too short.
