I have a ball that is bright red, wondering if I paint it, will the stuff all stick to it or if it will not adhere to the ball? I don't plan to leave them outside in the winter but they will get full on south sun.
yes I read through some of those. Some people say they glued right to the ball, and others painted. I'd like to know how the painted ones held up for them, if they stayed.
Frilly, I painted one early on without really cleaning the ball well. My paint came off, but if you can get rid of all the waxy coating on the ball, it should work, at least for a few years. Try it and see. Now I just mosaic on mine.

Karen, what do you use to glue the pieces on? I haven't tried mosaic but I have some old Blue Willow dishes with chips that I think would make a nice one.
If it's going to be in the garden it's best to use GE Silicone2. It can freeze and expand without breaking. Blue willow dishes would be beautiful! If you don't have enough, many ebay sellers sell dishes for mosaicists to use.
Teresa here are pics of some. Some are wonderful, others not so great, but maybe you can find some inspiration. I buy bowling balls in thrift shops. https://www.flickr.com/search/...
Just looking through all of those pics is inspiring me to get back to work on mosaics. I do love doing them, but the last year has been hard with lots of medical visits and tests. Things are looking up now, so it's time to get back to work.
I've been talking about hypertufa and leaf casting for years. I need to just do it. They both look like fun and I have some huge alocasia leaves this year.

The leaf casting is super easy! I took a class and she just used Concrete patch from Lowes. EEars are great to use or hosta, anything with good veining. She had done maple leaves and many others.
I was just looking at this mosaic website. She has a bowling ball, garden Lanterns, butterflies and other great garden ideas. She is also very good at doing dog portraits! I'd love to be able to do that! https://flowerfloozydesigns.co...
I agree. She is one of the mosacists who can actually capture the personalities of the pets. My husband said I should try one of our dog, Rigel. I'll have to think about that one!
