I'm trying to get my act together to register a few and would love more of your excellent help describing the flower. This is seedling 17-055.

Also, which photo would you choose for the AHS database? Thanks in advance.

Can't offer any suggestions on color description, but I can say that I think this one is a beauty! Edited to add that the first picture would be my choice for AHS and how much I'm learning from, and enjoying, these posts.

I like the first photo, nice composition that emphasizes the yellow star.

To me, it looks like a color scheme you would use to paint flames on a hot rod. Not helpful as I don't know the name of the colors one would use for that. A quick google search came up with "Flame Red", "Flame Orange", and "Flame Yellow". Well, that's not going to work. D'Oh!

But maybe because it reminds me of a flame, I'm leaning toward Fire Engine Red for the main color.

Oh my, that's a gorgeous one too. It sure does have the colors of flames and it's hot. I also choose pic #1 as the tease for AHS.

I'd call it Garnet Red with a Blood Orange watermark radiating from a vibrant yellow starburst throat that continues to the edges.
God blessed me with dirt.

I would say it's fire engine to blood red with a lighter watermark and a bright golden throat, and I like the second picture because it gives the best overall view of the bloom -- although the first pic is more attractive and really shows the watermark off too... And what are you going to name it? I immediately thought of BRIGHTSTAR or ITSABEAUT...

And it is a beaut! Thumbs up

I agree with Bettys observation. The full on frontal shot in second picture provides every view you need for this registration.

Watermarked Bright Red with orange to gold throat and thin edge.

I would name it, 'Not Mine but Should Be' Thumbs up Thumbs up

I like all your suggestions so much that I'm really torn. I think for my catalog photo I would go with the first pic and AHS does want a straight on photo if I'm interpreting it correctly so the second pic for that.

As to color description, how about a bright red blend of apple and garnet with darker veins and a lighter watermark. The yellow throat continues as a fine wire onto the edges of the ruffled petals and recurved sepals.

With the above, I think I'm almost there with a catalog description. I would love to get just the right color name for the watermark but after staring at lots of color palettes, my brain hurts.

Please tell me if you think I'm way off.

All that is probably too much for the registration description so maybe just bright red blend with a watermark and yellow throat.

Diggerofdirt, you posted while I was still composing my post. I had looked up blood orange photos, but they made me think of the inside "bloody" color of the orange, so I'm not sure about it.

As to information about the plant , it's 29" EM 6" Sev Tet, 3 BR, BC=18, seems very rust resistant, fertile both ways.

I have a name picked out, but I'm not crazy about it and would love something (not taken) relating to flames or dragon fire maybe? I know if any of you are hybridizing, you won't want to give our your good names, but if you are not, any ideas?

Another color suggestion is cherry red and tangerine watermark.

Ok, I'll take a shot at describing this one. First I do agree with the apple red that Rodger & Karen suggested. This one is such a gorgeous color and reminds me of the color of a red delicious apple. This is how I would describe it based on those beautiful pictures.

Rich apple red with lighter red watermark. Large bright gold throat blending into watermark and spilling onto sepals. Matching gold picotee edge.

I really, really think this is a gorgeous flower and I tip my hat to you. to the hybridizer. Would I register this? As long as the plant habits of this one are up to par, then you bet! Wish it were mine too. I can only hope that some of my seedlings pan out and are as beautiful. I think you have a winner with this one, I would be proud to own it!
