We came from here
The thread "Our Orchid blooms in December 2019" in Orchids forum

and now we are on December 31. 2019 at 11:59 pm and ready to slide into the new year! πŸŽ‰ Here is to 2020!πŸ₯‚
Let me start our new thread with a combo -
to the left is the Cattleya percivaliana 'Summit' with all buds now open, Rlc George King 'Serendipity' in back, in front B. Rediculous (B. nodosa 'Mas Mejor' x grandiflora 'Remar'), and the single pink to the right is the newcomer Rlc Hawaiian Agenda 'Florida Winter', with a first bloom under my care.
I just had to pick up the Hawaiian Agenda when I realized that the seed parent is Princess Teresa, one of my old favorites. ( Rlc Princess Teresa x C. Horace)

I've been snooping on your orchids, and I am Green with Envy!!! I really wish I could get into more exotics, not just grocery store phals, but there is nowhere near me with them, and the one place an hour away is CRAZY expensive!!

Jayce, if you shop at Trader Joe's they often have a nice selection of orchids other than Phals (which they have too). I always peruse their display at my local store and have scored some interesting Dendrobiums as well as Miltassia and Cymbidiums.

Ursula, love that beautiful show at your house - the pink on your 'Florida Winter' is just lovely.

Nothing new today at my house, but I thought this was an interesting comparison of my old favorite Brassavola that I call "Maybe Yellow Bird" and my new baby NOID with similar colors and shape, but the flowers are half the size and seem to be retaining their rosy spots, rather than changing from rose/ivory to all yellow.

Jayce, perhaps there might be some Orchid shows in your area? And yes, Trader Joe's has some pretty, other Orchids every so often.

For those on FB, if you join the St. Augustine Orchid Society group, about a week ago there was a post of a collage of 'Yellow Bird's in different colors. I am not sure but I think it is even the same plant.

I'm in Northern California, and the nearest Trader Joe's is two hours away, but if I am ever near one I will try!! Does anyone know of any Northern California Orchid shows? I am not too terribly far from Sacramento...

There is a Sacramento Orchid Society meeting on 1831 Howe Avenue @ at the Odd Fellows Hall. 7 pm on the second Monday of the month.
That might be a good place to start. A typical meeting is a speaker about orchids, a plant table, raffle and refreshments.
Members would be very helpful and would have a line on local vendors.

Just google California Orchid Vendors. I just did and several came up.
The odds are not good on one being real close but there are far more in California then there are in say Montana. You may have to drive a couple of hours and make a day of it.
Chances are if there is a Sacramento Show, there have to be vendors some where.

Jayce, the aos.org website lists vendors and shows all over the country.
That said I get most of my orchids mail order or shows.

Looking at my Asctm christensonianum/Vanda christensoniana -
The good-size mother plant kicked the bucket some years ago, but the small keikis started growing again. And there is another small plant in the basket, I bought it when I thought I lost this one.
