Here we are in a new year, and I'm already looking forward to spring. I was out in the raised beds today in 54° weather with sunshine. Wow. Worked out there almost all day. What a treat.
Pictures from today. Sedum kimnachii has been in this location for 3 years now. I am so happy with the colorful year round sedum.

This one is new to me this year. I am concerned that the very pale stems will take over the variegated plants. Wonder if I should divide them out? What do you think? It looks like it is becoming dominant.

I pruned out all the dormant sedum stems for the Hylotelephium types. Lots of lovely rosettes sitting just at ground level, just waiting for warm weather and longer days.

Those two sedums are very pretty. With Atlantis I kind of like the dual look but you don't want to lose the variegated parts so maybe dividing out the pale ones is the way to go.

I still need to get out and trim down my Hylotelephium types. The big clump in the backyard has been done but the ones in my "Low water use" sedum garden in front still needs attention.

Thank you Connie. I still have a lot more sedum to clean up. Sure wish we could have at least one more day like today, it was perfect gardening weather. The freezing and thawing has made the sandy loam very loose and easy to work with.
I can't believe the amount of pepper cress that has germinated and started to grow. A couple other spring type of weeks are also starting to germinate.
I never did get my big clump of 'Autumn Joy' cleaned up last year. Hopefully this year. Crossing Fingers!
I am going to move all the sedum in bed #18. That bed really needs redoing. I may just pot the plants up for now. Anyone have any extra 1 or 2 gallon used nursery pots?

I should have a good supply of new 1 gallon pots up in the attic. I purchased a case of 100 about 15 years ago and haven't used that many. These are closer to being truly 1 gallon as compared to the "nursery" fake gallon pots.

Lynn, do you want to borrow some or do you need to keep them? If you need to keep them I would be happy to trade for some semp and sedum starts.

When do you need them? If not until after the clinic I could just bring them to the clinic for you.

I just checked on my supply and it looks like there may be seventy or eighty never used ones.

I need about 25 if you can spare them. I would be more than happy to return them once the plants are moved to their new home. Or I would be happy to trade for them. I need to start digging now while things are dormant. Ready for some plants?

25 is no problem. When do you want me to bring them over? We can figure out compensation (or not) later.

Lynn, love your sedums!

I took this photo today. Sedum spurium?

The one below was from mid-July.

Charlinex, wow. What beautiful red winter coloring. And the summer color is just a wonderful. Love the bright green with red trim. It is one of the S. spurium. So pretty.

Yikes, I am gardening in a new state and learning what works and what doesn't. My varied collection of sedums are being overrun by at least three types of weeds and no amount of hand weeding has helped much. Locals say they don't grow sedums as a ground cover because of the weeds. I am almost there Sighing!

That said, does anyone have some creative potting suggestions, perhaps combinations that have worked for them. Would love to hear what they are. Thanks in advance. And happy gardening wherever you are.

Good morning Sharon. I remember what it is like trying to grow ground cover plants in Mississippi. A loosing battle.
Which of the sedum do you want to grow?
Here is one of my newer plantings of sedum. It's planted with a bright orange lily that is very short. I think it is an Asiatic lily.

Hey @valleylynn-

How would you suggest I clean this up in the spring? Loop it all off and restart it? Could I use the red tips as new starts if so?
