Besides its blooms, I think peonies have the loveliest spring foliage! Every early spring, I look forward to see purple, red, green pips popping out of the ground. The hybrids and the species have the nicest foliage IMHO. Some tree peony foliage is really beautiful too.

THis is Nova. I think its pips with the enlarged furry buds are so adorable!

I love them! I like how tall your stems grow before the foliage starts to open. That is so interesting! Mine are all so short. Please post more!

Very nice, Anya. So how do make sure the emerging peony stems have room to come up through that landscape fabric?

LG, I watch them every day or even more often! Hilarious! Once I see a shoot which does not have a way to grow I cut the fabric, I like to see how peonies expand Smiling Early Scout is the fastest peony in our garden, it grew in a big clump so fast so I wish it stop growing any more Hilarious!

Karen, it is always fun to see peony photos in the middle of winter. Glad you suggested it. Three months from now I should have my first peony blooms. Unless the weather gets wacky and freezes them!!

Every time I see one of the threads updated I kick myself for not having pics organized and named! I check the forum daily to see if there are new entries; definitely want to see them every year!

I am just not sure if the threads are redundant as many have gone on to Facebook. But I like to post on here because it is easier to go back to look for certain pics and flowers to check them out again. It is much harder to do that on Facebook. There are so many wonderful pics, posts and info on Facebook but they just get buried so quickly. If you don't happen to be on the scene when the posts are made, you can easily miss them.

I really enjoy these threads and the beautiful pics that all have shared. I am glad to know that you all enjoy them as well. I simply can't grow all peonies varieties so it is especially nice to see pics of varieties that are not in my garden. It is also very interesting to see blooms in other areas of the US and other countries as well esp. in winter now when I don't have a lot of gardening errands on my mind. Smiling Smiling Strange as it may sound but i really like the foliage thread the best! Wish we can see more pics of good fall peony foliage. Some years, I have had very beautiful fall foliage on some peonies. This year and the one before being so wet, the peonies all had terrible powdery mildew by August.

I am looking forward to spring and all the beautiful peonies blooms that will come with it. Being so warm here, my snowdrop is already blooming! If this warm spell keeps up, we all may have an early spring. Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers!

Karen, I am enjoying posts here also and totally agree that info on FB gets buried quickly and I cannot go back to what I liked before and I am sure I miss a lot if I don't go there every day. I already posted fall foliage pictures and am glad to post them again in this thread.
