It appears to be diploid and breeds successfully with Asiatics.

In my Zone 10 climate it produced many stem bulblets on its first year. Sadly, it declined rapidly and did not return for the second year (all bulbs had disappeared after two years).

It is now listed in the RHS register (6th Supplement, page 59) as an LA hybrid.
