I am having trouble fighting through the alphabet soup, be back in a couple of weeks when it all blows over. Have fun.

At this time of year when the majority of us are waiting to get in our gardens, heck, some of us can't even SEE our gardens, the alphabet threads are filled with color and the hope for a fabulous bloom season to come. Sorry you find them bothersome and not enjoyable. Shrug! Guess we'll go back to the same old
The thread "2020 Bloom Season What is on your List?" in Daylilies forum
The thread "What Did You Do In Your Daylily Garden Today?" in Daylilies forum
The thread "What Happens on the LA..." in Daylilies forum
The thread "Weather In Your Garden ~ Winter 2019/2020 (Closed)" in Daylilies forum

To all those who have taken part in the alphabet threads (there's 6 more that haven't been bumped up yet Whistling ) adding images, comments and thumbs I tip my hat to you. Thank you for helping to make these winter days pass more quickly and adding to my "want" list!

That's exactly what it's for---also, I'm finding some new cv.'s to add to my want list while being entertained.

I am enjoying them, and seeing many cultivars that are not familiar to me!

Char - I like alphabet threads, I just think we should have new ones each year. It's hard to wade through threads with hundreds of posts to find where the current posts start.

Char, is this a list of threads that you find to be "bothersome and not enjoyable"?

I would hate to know I had to wade though all the old posts trying to catch up, guess I did not think everyone does not have the same options set up for reading threads.

I like the alphabet threads too, but then had to search my name to see if I had already posted my pics, lol! I didn't want to post the same pictures. However, in some cases, I hadn't even posted anything on the old thread, so I joined in.

These alphabet threads have given me so much pleasure the past few weeks. Daylily season doesn't start until late May-early June here, so I have a loooong wait for blooms.

What I do to search the alphabet threads because they were started years ago, is to search the thread using the shortcut key "ctrl" + "F" on the keyboard. The search feature pops up at the top right and I just start typing in what I am looking for.

As in the case of the alphabet threads, I start typing the date in the same format as the date on all the posts on NGA ("Feb 24, 2020) or just type in "2020". This takes me to the first post of this year (unless that is used elsewhere in a post).

If I am not sure whether I have posted my pictures in an alphabet thread, I search for "blue23rose". This shows every post I have made.

No Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing I was trying to point out that prior to the alphabet threads being bumped up those threads were pretty much all we looked at every day. They are still active and if folks want to post in them ...go for it. BUT don't tell the rest of us we can't enjoy viewing and posting in on topic threads!

I didn't see anyone start new alphabet threads, the old ones were bumped up. There's nothing wrong with bumping up old threads, anyone can go back and bump up an older thread so more posts can be added.
I don't know what to tell you. Shrug! You can do what James says and click "First Unread". Do you have your settings set to "Automatically jump to the first unread post in threads?" ? If not go to person icon top right, go to Settings, scroll down and you will see it. Set it to YES. Make sure you go to the bottom and Save Changes. Then each time you visit a thread it will automatically take you to the first post you haven't read yet. Once you've looked at a thread to the end you will be taken to only the new posts you haven't read yet the next time you click the thread.

If your favorite thread isn't at the top of the forum, scroll down and find it. If you don't like a thread it's simple, don't click on it.
So am I a wee bit ticked, .....sorry.... yes. Smiling As gardeners we know, life gets messy sometimes. It's near the end of winter, warm days, sunshine, mud, tshirts & shorts, toes in the dirt....let's see if we can all get there without making the last winter days harder for each other.

I'm loving the alphabet threads, and going back in each one to look at all the cultivars that I mostly don't have anymore. I didn't start using my IPhone until later in 2016, and I've noticed that all the pics that I took with my camera before that look very dim and drab, so I'm really glad to be using my phone these days! Live and learn...

I guess that means you are a wee bit ticked at me. Sorry about that Char. My original post seems pretty bland for getting you ticked off.

"I am having trouble fighting through the alphabet soup,"
(my words)

"BUT don't tell the rest of us we can't enjoy viewing and posting in on topic threads!"

I don't see where I told anyone that they couldn't enjoy viewing or posting anywhere.

"be back in a couple of weeks when it all blows over."
(my words)

"let's see if we can all get there without making the last winter days harder for each other."

"Have fun."
(my words)

Those three brief phrases were my only words and if they, or anything I have ever posted on this forum made the last winter days harder for anyone I apologize.

I just want to give James a formal thumbs up from me. I too at times would get frustrated by the sheer volume of replies under a subject. However, I had never noticed the "first unread" on the right side of the lead post. I tried it and it worked. No more trying to remember if I had stopped at page 13 or page 14 when looking at long threads. Thank you James............Maryl
