My first daylily bloom of 2020, I missed. It is another cross, but I don't yet know what it is. More blooms on it to come.

But my second and third bloom of this year is another seedling - UUU07 (Little Jet Setter x CCC01):

Thumb of 2020-03-24/beckygardener/53977c Thumb of 2020-03-24/beckygardener/7c0a2a

This is the second year it has bloomed. Before I even looked at it's label, I knew it had Little Jet Setter in it. The leaves and growth are very similar to my CCC01. But as you can see, the blooms sort of look like LJS but have a blended color of both it's parents. It also bloomed in March of last year and I made a parentage chart of it last year. The blooms seem to be consistent of last year's blooms:

I will have to get measurements and bud, branching, & scape counts sometime this week. It's being grown in a container and has definitely increased since last year. This is a 2 year old seedling.

Everyone - Thank you!

I am seeing buds forming on a number of my daylilies (most of which are seedlings). Working outside in my garden is a very calming distraction from what is going on concerning the pandemic in the USA. Being in Florida, the blooms are a welcome distraction vs. the local news.

I hope everyone starts seeing blooms bursting open to brighten your days ahead! Lovey dubby

Couldn't agree more, Becky. I'm still waiting on daffs, but I still take time to walk my gardens ever day to relax and think about something else. Thumbs up

This seedling was actually my very first bloom of 2020:

This is NNN24. I am not sure of the parentage, so I have created another thread to get opinions:
The thread "Help! Need opinions for seedling parentage" in Daylilies forum

Here are 2 blooms from today:

I did not see the March Blooms 2020 thread earlier but I had my first two blooms today. One on a seedling and one named cultivar.
I had noticed a seedling next to this was showing color and about ready to open, but had not even noticed this one was getting ready to open.

These are seedlings growing in pots indoors long enough to bloom. Have never done that before.

Thumb of 2020-03-26/Dennis616/805c26
This plant got sprayed with a new flying insect killer spray that I believe caused one bloom to shrivel and die but this bloom survived.

Unfortunately I am disappointed with these blooms-- not what I was trying for. Thumbs down But still very nice to see a couple of blooms this early! Hurray!

I tip my hat to you. How long did it take from planting to bloom indoors, Dennis?

These were left-overs from last years seedlings-- I didn't have room to plant them outdoors in the seedling beds last May. So I potted them up around August and they stayed out on the lawn until late fall. Then brought them indoors. They seemed to go dormant for a while-- no noticeable new growth-- until late January/early February and scapes emerged shortly thereafter...

That is interesting, Dennis. I may try that with a few of this year's seedlings. Did you grow them on a windowsill, or under lights?

I have them on a folding table up against a south-facing window. I do have one grow light on them but it is weak and far above them so I doubt it made much of a difference. They definitely lean toward the window...

I did enjoy having them inside and certainly is nice to have blooms in March!

Sounds great, Dennis. I have a big south facing window, so I am going to try this. Now to get my cat to leave them alone. She doesn't bother large daylilies outdoors, so I hope she would be OK with these. She loves seedlings, though, but their leaves are much more tender. Crying I have her totally blocked off from my indoor seedlings.

I understand the cat concern. I miss having a cat around and have recently been seriously considering adopting one. However, my spare bedroom seedling room would have to be off-limits. I can't just keep the door closed, so I was actually thinking about how I could install a screen door! Hilarious!

My cat makes up for her love of seedlings by not tolerating a mouse setting foot in the house. She has also kept my garden mouse, mole and vole free. We have solved the bird issue by using a colourful collar on her (think clown collar). They are made by a U.S. firm called Birdsbesafe.
She really is a sweet, little thing, and I can't blame her for wanting a little green salad in winter. I do grow cat grass for her, but she can't resist a tender daylily. I have my seedling light stand completely covered, and that has worked well.
A screen door would work and it could be quite attractive, as well!

Speaking of beautiful March blooms, I stumbled upon this video that Karen Pierce (Floyd Cove) made of some of their new first-time blooming seedlings that bloomed yesterday. Absolutely beautiful!

Good to see blooms everyone.
This bloomed about a week ago, was on a 6" tall scape so I did not see it until the next day. Have lots of scapes so the fun will begin soon.
