It has taken 6 years to get this tree peony to this point. If you look back at Blooms 2019 from last year, I posted a compilation of how the blooms have looked and changed, each year looking different. Finally, this year it looks like the composite picture I ordered from. It smells wonderful and has a total of 10 buds in various states from closed to open. Enjoy.

What a nice full flower, Gary and fragrant too. I'm not familiar with that particular variety, but it looks lovely. A nice start to the season for sure!

Thank you for sharing. The cultivar shows the great diversity and good smell of traditional Chinese suffruticosa. One friend said it will not be boring to plant Chinese suffruticosa, because it looks different each year.

Good to see the season is underway. Some of these flowers here will be particularly helpful to endure a positive spirit in the current Covid situation. Thanks all for sharing.

Thanks for moving this thread, I sent a request to open the other one.
I would love to start peony seeds this yr from my tree peony after I saw how expensive they are after I lost one. I was thinking the seeds must need special treatment like Stratification and scarification in addition to a soak. Ive also become aquainted with some gardening experts that recommend soaking in weak seaweed soln. Rationale for that is it wakes up the cytokynins in the seed to activate germination. IDK if its true or not, but I would NEVER leave a seed in soak over 24hrs. and ALWAYS soak in a sterilized jar to cut down on plastic use. Its choking our oceans.
Anyway, I was trying to get in on the seed conversation b.c Ive never done it with peonies and they have become my favorite flower. Im also planning on cross pollinating my 2 favorite tomatoes this yr to find the "perfect" canning tomato. I'll ask in the appropriate thread on that. Nice to meet such experts on Tree Peonies. Thanks for the advice.

Welcome FatPokey!!
Your tree Peonies are beautiful.

We love to chat about Peonies here.

Since I am landlocked, fresh seaweed is not available. It will be interesting to see your results!

Welcome!
