Hey guys,

I'm new to the plant game. Guess I've always been little scared of getting real plants so stuck to artificial, until my husband told me that artificial won't work since I don't pay attention to them and dust them.

So now real plants it is. Decided to go for a die hard plant which is referred to as the snake plant. Loved them so much I got 4 😂.

So decided to name them, and decided to do this forum to find out if anyone else is crazy enough to name there plants.

I also attached pictures:

1 Lola (my first indoor plant)
2 Laila
3 Lana
4 Luna

😂 not sure why u stuck with choosing names with letter L but that's what I thought of.

Now need help naming my Kentia palm, so names welcomed. And does not need to start with an L still not sure if I want a boy or girl name.

What do you name your plan?

For your palm: kensious (Or maybe that's too similar to the actual name of the plant)

@KFredenburg I know it seems everyone calls the Kentia palm ken, I just keep referring it to a she lol! From online it seems they both grow male and female so guess it can be either. But thanks for replying.

I tell them they are lucky that I know their true Latin name unlike many owners Smiling

How about Tia? Everyone names their Ficus benjamina plants Benjie so I named mine Jamina. My only other plant with a name is one of my Nepenthes whose name is Audrey.

I have never named a plant. I do have plants that have significant emotional value. I talk to my plants, and I use terms of endearment.. Usually to apologize, lol e.g. " oh, sweetheart, Im so sorry I forgot all about you.." Or "my poor baby"

In retrospect, I guess giving a name to something is the prerogative of the parent and anything that can't come when called is kinda pointless.

It might also have something to my history in dog rescue and fostering. I've had dogs with some insanely bad names. I have a pitbull now who's name is Bully. In the current sociopolitical environment that's second only to naming a dog rapist, and his breed doesn't help when we meet families, especially with kids on the street. I get away with it by shortening it to Bull.. or when people mistake it for Billy (bc I couldn't possibly have named my dog Bully) I don't bother correcting them. His brother was named Pastrami at one point in his history (had been changed to Dover by the time he came to live with me).

It just doesn't seem that important in the grand scheme of things.
If I met a guy named was Steve, I wouldn't arbitrarily decide to call him Peter because I liked it better. If you have a room full of plants, you don't really need to distinguish who you're talking to
The plural of anecdote is not data.
The plural of bozos is Dasilyl - so please don't engage with my website troll who typically caches my first post and responds ugly just to be nasty. If it gets upity, please ignore it.
