the Podo's in the green house are finished blooming for this season
Thumb of 2020-06-08/Strever/c0a6d1

But the Podo's in the garden are at their peak of the bloom
Thumb of 2020-06-08/Strever/baf0da

and the Hexandrum just started poking their noses up out of the ground a cpl weeks ago
Thumb of 2020-06-08/Strever/982dd7

and the pollen on the Podo's in the green house would only last at most 3 days even with the precautions i took and some plants the pollen just wasn't ready at the right time

i did have 5 or 6 different kind of plants to work with which if you think about it can be a lot
as i'm checking now and seeing some fruits shriveling up that did not make it and feeling relieved i won't have so many different babys to raise. BUT there are still a lot of seed pods getting big

sooo in planning for next season i need to think which plants to keep out side for a later pollen and bring the slow ones like hexadrum inside

and also try to find a better way to store the pollen for trade with you all

and the most important seed pods that are growing are the KGGG and i did a lot of them Smiling
which means i will have a lot of KGGG (Kaleidoscope) babys for those of you that want some

Sorry about the loss of the two baby plants. Sometimes it's frustrating when a lot of work and expectations hang in the balance.

I wanted to report a new baby I found today in my garden of May apples.Podophyllum; ‎Linnaeus
Species‎: ‎P. peltatum

I believe a new hybrid has possibly popped up. The leaves are totally different than the species growing . The new leaf in question is glossy in comparison to the leaves of the species grown. The shape of the new leaf is shaped similar to 'Spotty Dottty'.

See pics. What do you think?

It's the only new shaped leaf in the whole area . I will have to protect this one and mark it to know where to look for next spring.

i wanted to show the pod of my baby SDK to also be larger but it hasn't gotten much larger then last pict
and i'm not sure if it is just a bad pod or the baby SDK is putting all the energy into tons of new growth

Wow so cool. Love the variety of pod size shape and colors.

Are these the seeds you are saving to plant next season?

These will nice to see your new cross seeds and plants.

hi Bea

and come this winter approx OCT i will pick them and put them in something to germinate
and hopefully they will pop their little heads up and show off next spring

and i'm thinking i might have done too many this time, looks like there might be more then 200

You are so organized . I guess it's better to label everything could be tricky later. 200 seeds is a lot. Yikes🙃
Can't wait to see all the new hybrids. Good luck.

I'm still keeping my eye out for the hew baby hybrid that just popped up out of nowhere in the garden. I'm still wondering how that happened when I only had the common mayapples Podophyllum peltatum. It's still in the same area only one . When summer heats up or if we ever get summer, I will keep it sheltered and marked until clean up then mark the spot over winter. I have a feeling next winter will be a long one...

Bob
i have been losing them one after another
the first seed pod loss was the one on my baby SDK Crying
then one of the Pandas lost all the seed pods
a cpl of the KSD pods didn't make it and so forth
they just quit growing bigger
the most recent loss is one whole Imperial sunrise quit
i opened the pods to see what was happening and they had itty bitty seeds that just didn't delvelop
i think the plant was too young to handle the pregnancy Smiling
but there are still some very large seed pods developing as large or larger then golf balls
and boy am i going to have a lot of Kaleidoscope seed Wow
i've also lost several of my babys
seems the KSD crosses aren't as strong as the SDK
and i'm down to only 3 KSD babys
but the SDK babys are doing very good, i even put some out in the garden
we have had a cpl heat waves were the Green house got over 100°
sure made a bunch of limpy everything in there
most have recovered some have not and i will just have to wait til spring
hope i haven't rattled on too long for an answer
i should take some picts and show status

Never I always find your experiences with these plants interesting.
Was wondering if you ever received your delavayi from China?
Update on the Spotty Dotty plants, all are doing well and most have had additional growth. The plants from Japan while not getting any bigger have done well. The SDK looked good up till about a couple of weeks ago but I think will be gone very soon , will have to see if it comes back next season.
Did the Hosta you bought ever recover?

the SDKs are all looking good here so yours will come back in the spring
Pauls glory is still looking sad
the others are all OK except for some slug damage

That is good news that they will replace them. I would think PG will come back fine next season. I did look at the site from Japan , but they have not listed plants yet.
