On the inside, a Double form daylily

Wow, what a fantastic banner photo. I couldn't figure out what it was.

On my phone it looked like a bowl of speghetti...

Bowl of spagetti, love it! The image is from a cross section of a bud from the daylily Condilla. Condilla is a hose-in-hose or layered Double form which has the outer two whorls of sepals and petals normally seen in daylilies, then extra whorls of petals between the first petal whorl and the inner whorl of stamens.

Thank you, so glad you are enjoying it. I wasn't sure as it is not the typical pretty picture just a fascintaing look at what's on the inside. Juli, you know me, give me a daylily and I'll make all kinds of fun pieces. Maybe next year I'll give the daylillies a break and look at some other plants growing here.....

Very cool! I first looked at it on my iPhone, but decided this was one I needed to see on the big screen! LOL Thanks for posting the full picture & the blooming picture. It reminded me of that page in Highlights Magazine where they'd post macro or microscope pictures, or just a small detail of a common object, so you'd have to guess what the item was!
