Hello Everyone, please post your pictures of Vegetables you have been growing. I am growing these first time, it appears they love the heat and doing fine. I love eggplants.

Wow! Nice crops you are seeing. You have some unusual cultivars. All started from seed?

I am far behind you. My seed starting was late this year so no pepper or eggplant photos to show off yet.

Tomatoes, pole beans, squash and cucumbers be are the current harvest so far.

Good growing! Hurray!

Those are nice looking eggplants. I tried starting them from seeds but nothing.
The long beams have given me several meals.

Also the red stripe amaranth I've harvested several times. These were from old seeds.

The Louisiana green velvet okra is a little behind. First time growing it.

All those look GREAT! I've been growing bok choi, tomatoes, cantaloupe and peppers this year with moderate success. It will be my first year to be able to grow a fall crop with the long growing season in East Texas. So I'm looking for advice on great tasting leaf lettuce varieties you may recommend. I'm all ears!

Such nice healthy looking vegetables @piksihk Thumbs up

Welcome @kristimcafee I think you will enjoy the fall/winter growing season. The weather is far more pleasant with less bugs and other plagues. I am surprised on your crop of bok choi. Mine bolted as soon as it turned hot here. I will be growing it as a winter crop.

I love winter for growing my own lettuce. I prefer romaine lettuce and rarely let it form a head. I harvest the loose leaves only. I have two that have done remarkably well for me. Little Gem Cos Lettuce (Lactuca sativa 'Little Gem') and Parris Island Lettuce (Lactuca sativa 'Parris Island')

In previous winters, I have grown some of the red lettuce. I love the looks of it but do not care for the delicate texture.

Odd to see you mention winter gardening as I was thinking about getting out my seed stash and dig out my fall and winter seeds. It will soon be time to get them started. Hurray!

Thanks everyone!
Kristi,
They all have started from seeds indoors in late March. That may be reason I started seeing early fruits. Seeds all germinated between 7 to 10 days and plants became several inches long in a few days.I got the seeds from rare seeds.com since they have good mixed of unusual cultivars. I am familiar with this type of pepper when I was young but I was surprised to see it stand well against Texas heat. Eggplants like warm and hot weather as long as they get their water everyday. I would love to see your vegetables once they start producing fruits.
Betsy,
You have very healthy looking vegetables. Okra's leaves have very nice green. How do you harvest Amaranth? Seeds or leaves? Bitter melon looks great too. I had grown same type last year.
Kristi,
I grow lettuce during cool season as well. I did not have chance to compare them because I grow whatever seeds available for me. I usually mix red and greens ones together. I like the flavor of red leaf lettuce somehow but garden bed and salad would not look right without the green ones. I will be trying Austrian red speckle lettuce this fall. There are good reviews.

I finally have a few photos of my garden candy! And yes, that is a custom cataloupe hamock. Lol. A gal has to improvise when there is limited space.

The tomatoes I posted earlier are both heirlooms. The orange is a German stripe and the red is a beefsteak. That was all that was on the tag.

Beautiful! Your gardens are still thriving, even in this heat. Amazing!

Love the photo of your helper too. Think next year I need to plant some of those seeds. Green Grin!

I love eggplant. I made my husband eggplant parmesan and he said.... and I quote "it's great, except for the eggplant". The only way he will eat eggplant is grilled. So I at least get to have that.

Great Pictures Kat! I would like to grow some opalka next year if I can find seeds. Your African basil looking good and nice shot with big carpenter bee on blooms.
Sarahbeth, same here. I love the eggplants too and am always looking for different variety to try. This is underutilized vegetable and I am not sure people aware that there are at least 100s of ways to cook eggplant. It can be grilled and mixed with other vegetables etc. Here are a few.

Yup, up east in NJ they eat it a bit mushier. I have grown Ping Tung before and loved it, Wanted the Louisiana Long Green, but didn't get around to it. @Rido Totally Tomatoes for my seeds... at least peppers and tomatoes. Pod, that boy helped me strip half the tomato vines today- I took 2 armfuls to the burn pile, but still have that one vine of the Super Sweet 100's and 3 vines of the Opalka still ripening.

@Kittriana. Don't you think you should have waited for a warmer day to strip your vines? Whistling

I'll come down on the side of eggplant, especially eggplant parmesan. Sounds good @SarahBeth!

@pod was afraid to wait for a hotter morning...I only get that helper once a year, chuckl. My garden isn't lush, it seriously is looking like a late Aug garden, shady spots being found when even water fails to help overnite. Did help the vinegar kill weeds today....
