Ha ha I tell you as far as pests in the garden go, no desirable plant deters squirrels, rats, and other critters quite like my Chief. I also Companion plant my entire garden... Totally pest, and Pesticide free...
I gotta keep chief happy though so I plant a but of things just for Chief. He picks his own lemongrass and strawberries. I feed him carrots, peas, blueberries, apricots, bananas, and anything in season that is healthy for dogs.

What do you plant for your dog? Pictures?

I ha

Green beans. I only plant them for the dog. Lemon balm is also mostly planted for him (crush leaves and rub on his fur and it tends to keep the flies and gnats at bay for a while, plus he smells good). Since I've been working from home since mid March, he's spent more time outside, thus keeping more squirrels and rabbits out off our yard.

How sweet! Lovey dubby

I'm embarrassed to say I never thought of growing veggies for my dogs but you have just inspired me.

My dogs all love going wild blackberry picking and my girl loves peaches fresh from the tree but she turns her nose up to one from the store. I put wild blueberries in their food along with kelp.

Lately I've been reading that green beans are very good for dogs. I think I'll grow them some next year.

I finally found a picture of my girl about to pick a peach.

Love the thought of gardening for our companions. Mine get a large portion of my sweet potato crop cooked in their daily dog food.

How does Chief always manage to looks so adorable!? Hilarious! I guess it just comes natural.

I ran across this picture the other day... he's not being much of a garden helper but the picture still makes me laugh. He was wore out from all that hard work! Hilarious!

I don't know if you noticed but there's a bone down in the hole behind him. Hilarious! I guess he was too tired from digging to cover it back up.

Iva always had dogs that like sweet fruit.. if he likes blackberry, have you ever shared a banana or strawberries, oranges?. My dogs love anything tropical.. they will open the cabinet and pull out the garbage pail if I leave pineapple or mango rinds- which they won't do for meat. and I use them and bananas for high value training treats...
Not my idea, it's theirs. Too much acid is not great for dog tummies, so be careful with oranges and pineapple, but if your dog likes blackberries there is probably a lot of fruit he'll work for. Try an over ripe banana,
