Here's what I'm planting this fall:
200 Mixed perennial tulips (I've already dug a 65 foot long trench for the tulips, so the hardest part is already done)
70 Dwarf Iris 'Katharine Hodgkin'
70 Dwarf Iris 'Rhapsody'
20 Nectaroscor siculum (Sicilian Honey Garlic)
20 Gladiolus communis (blooms in spring instead of summer)
10 Allium giganteum (ornamental onion)
10 Eremurus Spring Valley Hybrids (Foxtail Lily)
10 Geranium tuberosum
10 Hyacinthus 'Blue Jacket'
10 Hyacinthus 'Jan Bos'
10 Hyacinthus 'Pink Pearl'
10 Hyacinthus 'Gipsy Queen'
10 Hyacinthus. orient. 'Woodstock'
10 Hyacinthus 'Yellow Queen'
10 Hyacinthus 'Royal Navy'
5 Hyacinthus 'China Pink'
5 Arum italicum Marmoratum (Zuzu's favorite - NOT!)
5 Cyclamen hederifolium

These days I am only planting "tommies" -- the crocus species tommasinianus. They are supposed to not be as appealing to the critters as the other crocuses. Unfortunately, they don't come in a wide variety of colors -- but they're still crocus!

Fortunately I live in a building on the top floor. Could crocus have trouble with high sun and heat?

They will be dormant during the hottest/sunniest parts of the year, so as long as you don't let them completely dessicate, they shouldn't care. Just water the pots whenever you water other pots (probably more than cactus ). And make sure they get some chill during the winter -- just leave the pots out on your balcony all winter.
