Little Thankgivings

By Sharon
November 22, 2012

Winter celebrations were all strung out like beads on a necklace, one right after the other. It was difficult for a child to tell one from the other since most of them were all covered in snow, but I always knew Thanksgiving followed closely on the edges of my birthday.

Hello Hetty,

That 'Mama' cup has a chip in the rim and though I didn't show it, there is a crack on the back side. I don't remember when that happened, but I really don't think it happened upon my rock. Must have been during all the moves it has made since then. But for Christmas I always fill it with holly and have it out for all to see. I'm afraid tea would leak . . .

Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving right back to you and your family.

Sharon, Thanks for the lovely story. As always you find the heart.

I have a few of those kinds of pieces around my house too. The one I laugh over and love, is the cracked and chipped teapot and sugar bowl from my great great grandmother. It was said to have come through the civil war, but from the looks of it the minnie balls must have come close enough to take a chip or two in passing.

I hope you enjoyed a good birthday and will have a lovely Thanksgiving.

We have so much for which to be thankful, I am making my gratitude list.

Gosh darn'it, Sharon, you made me cry. This story was beautiful and I think it just has to be my favorite. What a special bond you had with your Ninna.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Such an uplifting story. Your Ninna was a wise woman. Yes, I must admit, the story brought tears to my eyes. I, too, have so many gifts that have been given to me and each of them are precious for the memories of the ones who gave them.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
