I don't know if you follow the news, but there was a huge bomb set off in Nashville Christmas morning in front of the AT & T building. It took down all the cellular phone service and internet service for AT & T customers in the middle TN area and parts of Southern KY and northern AL. I just got internet back last evening and still don't have cell phone service.

Luckily I have DISH satellite TV, so I knew what was going on. The folks with DIRECT TV lost TV service too.

Law enforcement lost their 911 centers, too. It was a weird couple of days. Most of us are just so dependent on our cell phones now!

My family could not get in touch with me on Christmas and were so worried. They said when they called my number it wouldn't even ring, and no message at all came on saying the lines were down.

I am glad to be partially reconnected to the world now. Let's hope that this was just an isolated nut, and not something else.

Yes, I saw news. Glad you are OK. Not pleasant Christmas news, but a report this morning indicated the suspected bomber was an oddball who was concerned about 5G.

Glad you were able to get in touch with your family, LG! That must've been really scary for all of you! Do you know if landlines were knocked out as well? We're so out in the boonies that we still have to keep a landline to have continuous phone service and we have 2 different carriers as Verizon is the only cell service that has decent coverage and even theirs fails when the weather gets bad. Have yet to have both fail at the same time but it's certainly possible.

Local news this morning said the guy was a techie, and was worried about them using 5 G to spy on people. So he knew what he was doing about the bomb placement, and did not want to kill people as there was a broadcast message from the RV saying it had a bomb in it and then started a countdown.

Liz, that building contained all the hardware for AT & T, and land lines went down, too. Stores couldn't accept debit cards, and some were cash only.

I have tried WIFI calling on my cell phone, and that doesn't work either.

My husband read that to me last night and I thought of you! I am so glad you weren't stuck in that... sorry your family worried.

Some of the same things happened after the hurricane and we found that keeping enough cash for a weeks worth of groceries was extremely helpful. (It's not enough that you've got tempting cash laying around, just enough for "milk and cereal.")

So sorry you have all the disruption too...maybe your New Years will be more peaceful!
