Here we are in a brand new year. Hurray!
Let us count our blessings as we go. Smiling

Here is a fun container I did some years ago. Hmmm, wonder what I might come up with in this new year?

Awww, so cute! I love the hippo :)

I finished the garden bed (at least part of it, until I get more gravel and sand) and have a few plants in. I can't wait to see what happens as the plants mature

I mentioned this in Sempervivum Chat & Photos 2021 why I'm doing this :)

Sedum tetractinum 'Coral Reef' - This plant really suprised me. When I first got it, it was clay-yellow and green, I thought it would turn 100% red during winter, but it actually had a red tint on the leaves which was really nice. It reminds me of bubble gum, which I can't have right now (I have braces Blinking )

Thumb of 2021-01-04/sedumzz/c8bd77

Sedum makinoi 'Ogon' - This plant is relatively new to me. I love the bright, cheery colors. A small warning, it is relativley sensitive to being bumped around? It's leaves are easily damaged from rubbing.

Thumb of 2021-01-04/sedumzz/ae0b44

Sedum album 'Coral Carpet' - Second coral related plant? Thinking welp! It is SUPER cute! I reccomend this to every sedum jelly beans lover who wants something cold hardy :)

Thumb of 2021-01-04/sedumzz/f96d68

Sedum sexangulare - I merely got this plant ONLY because it was called a 'TASTELESS STONECROP' Rolling on the floor laughing hehehehehhehee hahhahahahaha It is rather bland for variegation or colored leaves, but overall it is very cute and colorfull. Nice red color!

Thumb of 2021-01-04/sedumzz/879909

Phedimus sichotensis - My lighting improved outdoors Smiling I think it looks very cute! Can't wait for the summer blooms Lovey dubby

Thumb of 2021-01-04/sedumzz/5bf9c0

Here is my variegated dragons blood (Ima just use dragon's blood as the name, as I can't spell the original one D'Oh! ). Apparently, the ipad just HAS to mess up the glare on this plant Blinking There is a baby plantlet growing, not sure if it's albino? Only time will tell Smiling It is growing really fast.

Thumb of 2021-01-04/sedumzz/7306fa

I have way too many sedum right now, so I skipped over a few. Can't wait to see what will happen in 2021.

Alex, love the photos. Your variegated form of Phedimus spurius, called 'Tricolor' Sedum (Phedimus spurius 'Tricolor')

I find it interesting the way the leaves grow on Sedum sexangulare.

Lynn, I have a tricolor, and they do look similar. I guess I'll have to wait for the other one to get out of dormany, because they don't look exactly the same

hmmmm It doesn't look exactly like it

1) The new buds are yellow, not pink
2) The old leaves turn reddish-pink, whereas fool's gold seems to stay the same color (from the pictures online)
3) Looking again, some do turn slightly pink, whereas my version turns 100% reddish-pink, not light pink, and the green variegation almost dissapears, and the cream becomes light pink.

Thinking

Colors can vary widely depending on growing conditions for both 'Tricolor' and 'Fool's Gold'.
Sedum (Phedimus spurius 'Tricolor')
Two-Row Stonecrop (Phedimus spurius 'Fool's Gold')

oh no Sad 2021 is gonna be the same as 2020:

when you download two files that are the same they are like "name" and "name1" and 2020 is
twenty-twenty
but 2021 is
twenty-twenty-one
so 2021 is gonna be the same Sad

if you download to files that are the same
the first one will be
picture.png
the second will be
picuture1.png
so 2020 is
twenty twenty
and 2021 is
twenty twenty one
so 2020 = 2021

same here! It was actually my first sedum! Lynn already knows this story, but anyways:

When I was a really little kid one of my school teachers showed me this video of someone sticking a rose into the soil and it propagating. Little me was like 'wow, it's magic!' so my life goal at that time was to magically grow a plant out of a flower. One day I went to my neighbors house and they had an overabudance of Sedum sarmentosum, which I picked a short bloom stalk. Little me didn't know what terrible things would happen D'Oh!

I stuck the plant into a garden bed that was usually neglected, under some bushes. So, it grew for a few years unoticed until my dad was planting bulbs, and ran into an overgrown, weedy, stringy bed-full of it. Sticking tongue out welp... that's how I got caught on to sedum and semps. I still have a cutting of the original one, quarantined in a pot this time Smiling

2020=2021? maybe? Crossing Fingers! maybe flip a coin 100 times and see what you get...

Oops, forgot part of the story!

After my dad 'removed' (forshadowing o_o) all of the Sedum sarmentosum, we were happy... for half a week. The plant just regrew from the dropped cuttings. So again and again, we tried stopping this sedum. even now, (or at least last time I checked, about a week ago? I think?) it's still there, but much smaller.

Hurray! And that ends today's story time! Hurray!
