I went outside today and I spotted Pink Hawaiian Coral emerging. Since I'm in California, Spring here starts sooner than the rest of the country. Next week it will be hot, in the 70s, maybe I can start back at swimming again.
So I thought I start a thread so we can post pictures of our peonies coming up.

Technically this is cheating. These camellias are still blooming. Even being covered by snow for 3 days didn't prevent the buds from opening. I am in awe. I cut a sprig yesterday to replace the last of my chrysanthemums which were starting to look wilty in the vase.

That is not cheating at all, Hiyamakki, I would LOVE to have something blooming over New Years!
No signs of spring yet in CO—it's actually snowing, but I have a few from AL from last weekend. Top pic is Golden Experience. This one grabbed my eye because it's been in my CO garden for 3 springs and has never done more that put up a couple of leaves and has always only had 1 stem sprout from the ground and has never had any growth from an existing stem, was actually surprised to see a healthy looking root when I dug it up last fall. It seems to like AL better than CO. This is a Reath intro so I'd be surprised if it actually performed better in warmer weather but maybe! Also—if I ever refer to Great Expectations tree peony I'm actually meaning this one. I have referred to it a few times already by that name, especially if I check the tag without my readers....

The bottom pic is a double red species fernleaf. I was a bit hesitant to plant out fernies in AL as the climate, especially during winter, is so WET. Fernies don't like WET. But it seems to be doing well so far. This one didn't increase well in CO either, think the most I've had on it was 4 buds and most I've ever had to open was 3 blooms in a season. I was incredibly careful when digging this one up and managed to get it out in one piece and it looks like it's rewarding me by putting up at least 4 stems which pretty much matches its growth in its old spot.

Another Pink Hawaiian Coral is coming up, I guess this is an early variety. The one in the front yard is full sun, I think it has a bud, but I'm not 100% certain, I need to wait a bit longer, this one in the back yard is in partial shade.

More hope here. This is High Adventure. I couldn't barely see it this morning, but I went out after lunch and saw a tiny bud.

One of my Sarah Bernhardt buds was dying, I had to pinch it off, it's black, I was wondering why it oozed out sticky sap a few weeks ago, now I know. It's not good to come out too early, even we have no hard frost here. Luckily my bud from Coral Charm is still green.

Lavender Hill, this one looks promising

Shima Nishiki, this one is from Alderman's, it has potential.

It's still, cold here, our heater is on everyday. I'm looking forward to warmer weather, it will be low 80s here this Thursday and Friday.
My anemones have one flower bud, it's white. I think I bought the white and blue mix anemones from Brecks, can't wait to see the combination.
Here it is.

Thumb of 2021-01-11/SoCalGardenNut/f905b0

I also checked that 2 of my Bartz Itohs have 2 buds each. They are in full sun and maybe that's why they are sprouting early. But 2 buds on a $10 root is very good.

Welcome back, Oscar! It looks you are having a warmer weather even you are just 60 km south of Toronto. I have pretty much all of my backyard covered in snow at the moment and my hellebores are covered as well.
