I haven;t been around lately. Hope to get back to the place though. I lost my two best friends, my dogs, within a month of each other, one Feb 6 and one Mar 1. Have also been really sick for 2 weeks. Have not been able to do much of anything. Hope to go out to the nature today though.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friends, Gina. That always hurts so much. Do you still have any pets? It does help to add a new one or two to the family.

Have you been Covid tested? We just got our second dose of the vaccine, so it is a relief. I'm hoping that it won't be long before we can have plant shows and be able to get out and travel again.

We do have another dog, but she is my husband's dog (she chose him). My daughter and her partner have 2 dogs here with us but they are their dogs. They are ok but not mine. I wouldn't be able to get a new one right now. My 2nd dog just died on Monday. Its a big fresh wound right now. I have been Covid tested, it was negative. My husband has been fully vaccinated for a while now (first tier first responder). Publix has opened to 50 and up but ONLY with 'special circumstances'. None of which I think I qualify for.

Did go out to the greenhouse today and snap a photo of this lovely new Anthurium marmoratum leaf

Oh Gina, I am so sorry to hear that you've lost another one of your fur babies ... and so soon after your Koo just left you. It is so heartbreaking but I'd like to think that he needed his buddy with him at the rainbow bridge. My sister and brother in law who live down the street from me just lost one of their English Mastiff's a couple of days ago and they are truly devastated. Their Savannah was 10 years old, which is old for a giant breed; she had hip dsplaysia but had also been fighting cancer for a few years, so it's amazing that she lasted as long as she did. They also have a 9 year old male Mastiff and a senior feline and they are missing their sister. Crying

My heart goes out to you; I know how difficult it is to have to say goodbye to a beloved fur baby. Group hug

I hope you will pop in whenever you feel up for a diversion; you are such an asset to everyone with your knowledge and help regarding Aroids. Know that we are thinking about you. ((((( Hugs )))))

Lin you are so sweet. I have just been so disinterested in anything since Kooks died, then Monty...and being sick for 2 weeks, it was just that last straw. But I realize I have to make myself pull out of this depression.

There is no time line for grieving the loss of human or pet; grief can come and go in waves, over weeks, months, or even longer. Disinterest in normal routine is understandable after a loss. Rest and good quality sleep are difficult during the grieving process and the immune system can get out of whack and cause us to get sick. Please take care of yourself, take it one day at a time and know that we understand what you are going through.

I am very sorry to hear about your friends and dogs, Gina. I've lost both at some point in my life and one thing I've learned is that the pain never goes away, but it becomes less .. painful. Hope you are recovering and taking good care of yourself.

Aw... I'm so sorry for your losses Group hug

I'm glad your Covid test came up negative, and I hope you feel better soon. But the loss of pets is always a hard thing to get through. They are family after all! Sometimes you just need to take some time to process everything and get through the worst of the pains... Sad

I totally understand how you're feeling. I always take a long time to get through the loss of pets. It's been a few years, but I still have a hard time with the loss of Daki (Savannah cat). She was so young when I lost her and there was nothing I could do for her. Her circumstances have made it a difficult one to process...

Thank you Macrocentra. I know it happens to everyone who has pets. And not just dogs and cats. My daughter had a pet tarantula who died and she was heartbroken. Everyone here is very supportive. It was a unexpected to lose the first dog, my Jack, but totally unexpected to lose my Shepherd mix less than a month after.

Thanks guys. Its still a struggle...I didn't want to vacuum and mop my bathroom for the longest time because my little Jack used to like to sleep on the bathroom rug, which is black, and shed her little white hair all over it. I just couldn't bring myself to remove those traces of her for a while

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, Gina. Two so close together is really hard. Were they siblings that you got at the same time?

No, one was a Jack Russell and one was a Shepherd mix. We did get them a little lass than a year apart, they were roughly the same age when we got them (both rescues)

I totally get the not wanting to clean the hairs off your floor.
I still have a little pawprint on my fireplace because Daki stepped in some paint and stamped the fireplace before I caught her to wash her foot. I refuse to wipe the pawprint off the marble now. The thought of removing it hurts too much. Sad

I hope you're doing okay over there. It's an awful thing to go through, but still wishing you all the best. Group hug

Oh thank you TK! I am doing better, I still get sad especially at night when the little dog beds in our bedroom are empty. People keep telling me I should get a new dog, but they just don;t really comprehend the fact that these were;t just dogs to me, especially my Jack...they were family members.
