Mine is under an Osmanthus shrub and I covered it with a layer of straw during the nasty cold days and it did fine. It is raining here or I would go out and take a pic. If people know how easy it is to grow them the price would drop.

They are going from anywhere from $150-600 at the moment. Totally insane, like all the other plant prices now. There are (maybe WERE) now some Anthurium luxurians for sale on the website of a well known aroid importer in Apopka for $500. But people have been selling them privately for $1000+. Natural Selections Exotics has been auctioning off lots of THREE SEEDS from Anthurium dressleri and they have been selling for over $1000 each lot of 3 seeds

I just looked on the NSE auction site. The current offerings:
3 Anthurium dressleri seeds....bid currently at $1101.00
Anthurium luxurians.....sold for $701.00
3 seeds of Anthurium Red Crystallinum....current bid at $321.00
Philodendron patriciae....sold for $980.00

Like I said A lux is available at $500 in Apopka, someone will probably buy 3-4 and flip them for a higher price (happens all the time)

Same place in Apopka had P. patriciae just before the IAS sale for $90

I had to look up P. patriciae, wow, it is stunning and especially with those red inflorescences.

I used to have one. It was the most expensive plant I ever bought in the 2000's. It was $75. I lost it in my big greenhouse heater failure. I thought about replacing it, maybe if I can find one less than $900 LOL.

NSE is nearby. Enid has been crowned the defacto High Priestess of Ariods and millenials can now boast they have a $1000 2 leaf plant in their studio apartment.
Both a blessing and a curse...as more younger folks become planties driving prices higher

Whatever happened to LariAnn? Wasn't she the high priestess at one time?

You know I love Enid. I have been acquainted with her since about 2003. And TBH I am much happier that SHE is the High Priestess than some youtube silly person like some of them on there. Its a very sad thing that, rather than researching information on plants from fact and science based material from places like papers written by Dr. Croat, Peter Boyce and others, or joining the IAS, people would rather watch some Youtube lady 'unbox' her new plants and give advice on how to kill something like an Anthurium cutucuensis in your house.

Lari Ann is still around, she is still living in So FL and hybridizing stuff. She is on Facebook occasionally but not as much as some.

Mike I am pretty sure this is a new plant on the market they are calling ALocasia Jacklyn. It is endemic apparently to Sulawesi. I have seen some chatter about it on Facebook, questions about the possibility that it is being sold by poachers to all these people who have become overnight international plant importers/sellers. If there is any truth to that I don;t know. I have largely back off of being on Facebook. There are too many people there who are just kind of a waste of time. When I have something to sell, like fresh Anthurium berries, I list and sell them though a page I belong to there. But that's about it. We also started a local Gainesville area BST (Buy-Sell-Trade) for rare plants so that has been fun.

Perhaps its not that then. There have been a number of newer alocasias from Indonesia flooding the market. It has been circulating that they are being poached and then imported.

My friend Mike (another Mike) who lived here went to visit Marie last year. He said she is barely selling anything anymore. I think she has started taking fewer visitors as well, she told him that two guys robber her of a large variegated Philo billietiae, one distracted her in one part of the place while the other walked out with the plant. Sorry people. He said that she was lucky they didn't just knock her over the head and steal more

Hilarious!
Seems anything pink or variegated is expensive. Tropifloria just had a variegated Philodendron in a six inch pot for $400.00 and it sold.

Rolling on the floor laughing too bad people don't want variegated pothos, it is all over my garden, even big as it grows up the trees.
