Last year we started a thread about the differences in 'gold nugget'. Now that most people's CS has had time to settle in let's do the same for this one. I'm interested to see how it does this year now that it is settled in. This is my larger one.

Looks nice. I like that you can see the variegation more on yours. Mine has small hints of it but I'm hoping as it gets more sun it will bring out the colors more.

I'm sure it will start coloring up nicely for you Nathaniel as spring advances.
Mine was showing the affects of last summer's drought. I wasn't here to keep it watered. Hopefully it will improve with warming weather.

Here is mine just a couple days later. It's amazing what a little nice weather will do.

'Citrus Sunrise' is a 'Rocknoll Rosette' sport (it does so quite often) but I have found 'Rocknoll Rosette' VERY moisture sensitive here in Oregon and said BYE-BYE to it two years ago and never used it as a parent because of this sensitivity. Life is too short for wimps!

Kevin, I had the same problem with 'Rocknoll Resette'. But 'Citrus Sunrise' so far has not had that problem. It was new to me last July. It did suffer trying to get established in full sun during our heat and drought. On top of that it had to fend for itself because we started traveling and didn't stop until we got home in January. It will be interesting to see how it does this year.

I was just looking at me Rocknoll and was thinking about dumping it because it looks like crap. Now I can do it without feeling too bad!

Greetings everyone. Just coming out of winter . My Citrus sunrise was on my front step by my door all winter. I put it out to get rain a couple of times but it has not had all the rain. It is looking fantastic. It was Green and cream striped all winter and now is getting some rosy tinge. It did send out a couple of green sports last fall which I removed and now all the chicks are nicely variegated. I have no phone right now but will take a photo asap. Not surprised it has been discontinued. its too slow for Chris' type of production and if it throws green sports that have to be removed that is a negative for him as well. Next winter I will take of a couple of chicks and give them the full rain test.

Very nice Julia. Did you keep them protected during the winter?
I really like the colors that 'Citrus Sunrise' shows throughout the year.

I have 2 Citrus Sunrises. One came from an on line nursery called Hirt's and the other came from Chris R's Semp Patch.

They sat out over winter and so far haven't done much. But at least they haven't died!

In other news, I saw Chris H post about the replacement for 'Citrus Sunrise'. He says it's even better so I'm really excited to see it.

Here is mine today. I have two, both are the same colors and came from Chris R. and have had no problem adjusting to our difficult winter/spring growing conditions.

Here is my Citrus Sunrise now. It has grown more than this since last summer but produces green rosettss which I removed.

Look at the change in just a few days. It was never this red last year but it was inside the greenhouse.

Wow, looking great Jo Ann. I really think this one makes the best color exposed to what nature throws at it.
