Nathaniel, everywhere I look it is Mint Marvel is shown as 'Mrs. Giuseppi'. Here in our database, Sempervivum-Liste.de and Mountain Crest Gardens also sells it under both the Mint Marvel name and on the back of the tag it is 'Mrs. Giuseppi'.

I did send Plant Haven an email Sunday inquiring about the supersemps. Not heard anything yet.

At least we now know where this new trade mark is coming from.

Very interesting "pineapple"/ "open pine cone" / "ball mace" growth.

Seems they got their substrate, fertilizer and light amount recipe set.
Can't say I am fan of of the look, but I am surely intrigued about what they do to the sempervivum to look like that.

I found both of my original tags. The plants looked different too.

I wonder if they changed the plant they were using since one is more hardy.

When did you get the newer one? I got some last year but want to make sure I separate them if needed.

I bought both last year. semps don't sell well at some greenhouses here so it could have been there for years. The top tag is very brittle so I'm guessing older. I would take a photo of the two plants together but one type is pretty much gone, not sure if it will make it back.

Here is what I did:
Both 'Sir William Lawrence' and 'Mrs. Giuseppi' have the information "Also sold as" Chick Charms® Mint Marvel™

Yeah sounds like the two cultivars aren't dissimilar enough that they couldn't get away with the switch. I'm just glad that they went to the effort of changing the back of the label when they swapped cultivars.

Is it just me or does Onix look like 'Borscht'? Not a ton of wavy-leaved 8" near blacks out there!

Second heading on Google for Plant Haven then search Onyx. In the description it says that the origin is Germany. but nothing more.

It also gave me some 'Borscht' vibes when I first saw it.

I guess my 12" semps will have to be Super Duper semps!

Lynn, I've had 'Sir William Lawrence' for years, I never had 'Mrs. Giuseppi' or 'Mint Marvel'. Yes I agree, what a mess.

Julia, did you ever hear back from Plant Haven?

No, nothing yet. I called yesterday, the message on the phone said that the office is closed do to COVID. Mail box is full so couldn't leave a message. They give a cell phone number for urgent inquiries. I'll try that next week if no email.

Okay, I found out that Mint Marvel went from 'Mrs. Giuseppi' to 'Sir William Lawrence' because of rot problems in 'Mrs. Giuseppi'. I'm not sure when the switch took place.
