I love a standard clay pot as much as anyone but some pots are just too cute to not use. This resin pot doesn't have a hole but this plant has managed to stay alive for a few years. Just changed the soil yesterday and separated the rosettes. They were all a single entity.

I love this plant in this particular pot!

It's attractive, Tiffany, but I would drill a hole in that container. Resin would be easy compared to some materials where I've added holes Hilarious! .

I like how the rough texture of the plant goes with the rough texture of the pot, and especially the leaves of the palm tree. It looks like it's been in there (doing well) a fair while, hole or no hole.

How about a six-pack of well dressed plants from our patio garden? Smiling I don't have a lot of interesting pots (almost all my plants are in cheap plastic pots) but here are a few Mexican plants in pots with Mexican desert scenes.

And a couple of African plants with floral patterned pots meant to complement the colors of the plant (in the second case, the flowers, which are conspicuously absent on that Euphorbia this time of year).

Given I have so few decorative pots, I do spend a little time thinking about which ones would go with which plants. Smiling

Thank you, Donald!

Gorgeous, Baja! Those are definitely well matched. The last plant has "a face only a plant lover could love". Most of my pots are plain clay, and still too many fugly plastic pots.

I find myself using clay pots almost exclusively as the weather is so cold and light levels too low here. Illustrated perfectly my my struggle to photo my few ceramic pots today. South facing windows in the middle of the day and still the light levels are really low. Last pic is one i did yesterday and that is inside and not in the window.I like donald drill holes in every single pot i have

I think its a wood effect resin on a clay pot. Not sure it you guys are getting these but there are lots of ceramic looking pots about that are not actually fired ceramic. You can peel the resin off Smiling

OK, thank you! Very attractive. I haven't bought anything but a regular clay pot for a long time. The tiny palm tree pot in my original pic was found @ a used store for $1.

That 2nd one is beautiful! The first pot is great, but the plant is - aesthetically challenged? LOL! It does match the pot well, whether it has conventional attractiveness or not.

That's wonderful! Somebody has to appreciate those more unusual plants. I'm sure it's much more interesting in person too, with appeal that doesn't convey in a pic.

I like the Ceropegia best. Nice combo where the container is doing a good job supporting the appearance of the plant. Both are nice presentations.

For mine, I like the cacti growing in the stone planters I purchased. Wish the containers weren't so expensive. I have four and they were all presents I bought for myself Rolling on the floor laughing for one reason or another. Here's a photo of one I took yesterday of Escobaria sneedii.

The container is sitting on the wall. It's there year round except for forecasts of extreme, unusual cold, though I tend to cover cacti in cold temps combined with precipation to keep them dry.

I ever made 2 of those stone planters, one made of solid rock, too difficult, another one is from lava rock, the lava rock is easy to make, and the price is also cheap here, less than 1 dollar per kg, I think the size of 8 inch will roughly 1 kg only, I forgot where I keep that planter now, last time I have problem in using it , as the lava rock is so porous that the roots growth into it and we can not repot the plant at all, also the media dries very fast

Yes. These are lava rock and porous. I'm worried that it will be difficult to remove a plant, but I've decided to just leave this plant indefinitely. I hope, at some point, to figure out if I can detach some of the offsetting growth to propagate extra plants. They are very firmly attached in this case. I don't think one could be detached without doing some damage. Maybe if it overflows the container mouth, the access will be easier and some of the offsets can be removed without excessive damage. I think it will be overflowing on two sides if it continues to grow well this summer. The cacti I've used in the four containers like it are all plants that should like the fast drainage and be able to stay in place for indefinite periods of time. I expect the plants to let me know when they need to be removed - perhaps by expiring in place Shrug!

If I'm pot matching, I go for the 1/3 size comparison, and find a pot that either compliments or contrasts with the plant. Texture , too.
I like ones that are more organic and hopefully have several pockets to plant in. I'd like to move my collection fully over to just volcanic rocks or things like that but clearly that would take forever to do Whistling
