This one I LOVE...turns out deep purple......and, yes, there's that wild red rootstock rose again....lol...first couple of years here, I thought it was charming...so tenacious...lol...finally last year I decided I could make myself totally dig it out, stick it in a pot, if it died, it died....I mean, it KEPT coming back...so...now I have one in a pot AND there still at the foundation......

Afternoon, Sherry! Are you keeping an eye on that "lava" fire? I thought about you guys up there when I heard it was on the Ca. Or. border.

It's a Verbascum blattaria....I love all of the Verbascums...they reseed and I love their spontaneous nature...if I don't like the spot they've chosen, I pull them, lay the stalks somewhere else.....

Oh yeah now I recognize them … verbascum.. I have some really tall pretty blue ones that pop up every year.. they are tough plants. I tip my hat to you.

Sounds like a good plan. I bedazzled my cane. Anything to personalize our helpers makes it somewhat better to cope with the fact we need a little something. 🤞

Well, in the grocery stores, I've got the cart...and at home I have my garden cart, but I'm feeling wobbly getting from the car to inside the library......
In a couple of days I will finally see if my 'never got labeled' Verbascum seedlings are my much loved 'Governor George Aiken'...or the common yellow mullein....

Wow those will be monsters… they never disappoint.

I had so many of those after a few years I wished I never had them. They tend to reseed here easily and pop up in all the wrong places. I leave a few that seem to be a nice welcome to see their flowers in late august.

It's better to have a cane than take the risk of falling. I fell three weeks ago and still can not walk. Slipped on our wet cement porch like a skating rink actually did the splits…. Still recovering. Grumbling

I have a cane, but do wonder about carrying stuff like my book bag when one hand is busy with the cane....my falls have been in the yard...and I 'roll'...lol..neighbor has two tall walking sticks for maneuvering rocks at the beach....I think I could use a 'staff'...I'm really unhappy about being unable to get things done now....sigh
