Sweating this morning & will supposedly need sleeves tomorrow morning? I am reserving belief until I really do find myself a little chilly.

Most years, there is no fall, there is just fell - a frosty night suddenly amid the usual 80+ degree days, but this year, there is going to be a fall with lows starting with 5 and 6 first. I'm thrilled about sleeping with windows open, at least through the end of the 10-day forecast, but hope this doesn't mean an early 1st frost this year. I think it will be great for fall bloomers, and to get the most out of other plants that may perk up and perform a little more before frost.

Here in Arizona, we just get a little frost and coolness - nothing more.

Are you trying to tease? LOL! I'll bite. Here in AL, we have rain, and rarely have temps above about 97°.

Here we regularly get 110°+ in the summer, but believe it or not, if you keep your plants in the shade and water them well, they will survive (except for some very small seedlings like lychee, crape myrtle/henna, and bauhinia, which you can start in spring or move inside). Full sun is a different story lol.

Summer is also the time of very heavy rains almost every other day.

I was out digging new beds this morning, quit about 10:00, soaking wet but not from rain. The humidity and heat is still with us here, can't wait to get an early start tomorrow. Suppose to have new plants arriving.

Perfect timing, Larry! More daylilies?

Digging new beds is too much work for me. I smother & wait.

YES, how did you guess? I went in with two other daylily club members on a BoGo sale. Saves on the shipping that way.

Hey Larry are you still holding at 200 daylilies? Rolling on the floor laughing I already know the answer!
Felt so good to be out this am. Just me, the dogs, and bloodthirsty mosquitos.

Yes, I am still just over 200 registered daylilies...well, maybe a couple of hundred over that now. The Montgomery club sale is Oct. 2nd, our club sale is Oct. 9th. So, if the money holds out I might add just a couple more.
Actually I just finished up the slide show for the plants in the Wiregrass Area Daylily club sale and we have over 250 so far. I picked out 17 to bid on.

Is that open to the public?

It really did happen! 59° this morning!! I used the hot water knob in the shower for the first time since probably May.

We usually have a real fall here, it starts the last of September and lasts, if we are lucky, until nearly Thanksgiving. November is one of our rainiest months, we often get up to 6 inches that month, and many grey, cloudy days. October is usually dry, cool and beautiful!
A really good month for putting the garden to bed and general yard cleanup. It's 49 degrees right now, but it will warm up to the high 80s this weekend. Just a little taste, but the heat will soon be gone until next year.
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.

Well, it appears I was wrong about the Montgomery Plant sale, it is a Fall Regional, and is only open to members. However, I am getting some info for you about a sale later in the month when a Montgomery Member will be having a sale at her house with not only daylilies but also trees and other companion plants.
The sale in Dothan is open to the public,

That sounds like fun! What is the ballpark amount that the average plant sells for?

I don't know if it's all the rain we've had in the last month but my banana shrub is blooming. Just a few, it's never done that before. August Beauty gardenia is also blooming a little. Next will be the tea olives. Hurray! Weather was gorgeous today, mid 50s tonight. Blankets and sweatshirt, I will not turn on that heater!
