I am getting seeds for what I believe to be this MG from an EBay purchase. Saltmarsh Morning Glory (Ipomoea sagittata)

I am wondering how to grow it since I think it grows wild in coastal type areas. Had to do a bit of research as the person selling the seeds only had photos and not the actual name and the leaves look more like bindweed rather than MG. The auction photo-


I have bought seeds from this person before that turned out to be ipomoea lacunosa and ipomoea cordatotriloba which I grew last year and those I had recognized from the photos even though the person didn't use the correct names.

My mystery MG is having a bit of a growth spurt after I put a bit of bloom booster in the pot. My plant app keeps telling me it's sweet potato but I don't know. Maybe one day it will finally grow and bloom! It's been almost 10 months!

I bought a bulk pack of canary climber seeds. This past year I had one germinate only to be eaten by the cabbage white butterflies a few days after. I've been trying to grow this plant for years without success. Well, I put like 5 seeds in this pot and got a sprout!

I hope it grows out as was advertised, Lisa. It's a pretty flower. Sagittate leaf is an arrowhead shape.

Wow you are lucky to get a germinated seed of the canary climber! Did you get the seeds on eBay too?

No, I actually got a bulk pack on Amazon and the company is Seed Needs. I'm excited I got a sprout! Some of my recent acquisitions. They have the new Burpee display up at one store I go to and sell everything half off!

I'm going to order a pack too! I swear that canary creeper is the hardest seed to get to germinate and keep going if it does!

Oh no! I would have sent you both seeds! It's a huge pack! But I was wary because I didn't know how fresh they were. But one out of five is much better germination than I've gotten in the past! So they must be fairly fresh.

So I don't know what's going on here. Yesterday these JMGs looked fine. I don't know if the felines attacked them or what. I gave them sort of on top of other pots so the cats can't easily access them. What do you guys think?

When this happened to me, I thought it was usually due to cool temps but I know your plants are indoors. I am interested in what others say.

Ooo bummer… looks like wilt . Keep a heat pad under plants so roots stay warm will help prevent the cold temps that make plants vulnerable to wilt. It's sterile soil?

That's happened to a few of mine if the seed coat didn't come off easily. They grew out with no problem.

Yes, that also happens to me when the seedcoat sticks. Sometimes it grows out if the damage doesn't include the area in the middle where the next leaf grows. I guess that would be the meristem.

I'm going to leave them and see what happens. Some of my other perennial MG grew out despite the original sprouts not looking good. So far the other pot seems ok. If not, I'll get some new soil and see if that's the issue. It's very warm in my house (mom cranks the heat!) but I do have heat pads I can use.

My canary climber looks good!


Anyone else have a completely confused outdoor garden? I was doing a bit of cleanup yesterday and I've got poppies and other seedlings still sprouting! It got cooler today but has been pretty warm for winter in NY!
