Directions:

Have fun!

This month's theme is "Smallest Plants", as it's the shortest month of the year..

We encourage you to like the picture(s) you like the most. You can like your favorite, or if you like all of the pictures, like all of them! I highly encourage you to give pictures Acorns.

This theme will end at the end of February, and a new one will be up in March.

Have fun,
Evan.

The cooperi has grown, it was only slightly larger than the herbacea when I got it in October 2020.

This little guy was happy in the shade of another plant. Didn't think about that when I pulled out the larger plant. It fried.

My smallest cactus (excluding juveniles) is this Mammillaria, which is genuinely growing sideways, not rotting and falling over. That is a 4 inch pot.

Most of the small Euphorbias around here are volunteers, like this leuconeura (growing alongside a variegated mammillaris)

This looks like a bupleurifolia hybrid (alongside 'Doris Taylor')
Thumb of 2022-02-02/Baja_Costero/95642e

My smallest pot is this 2" pot, and I'm going to get that Dudleya into a 4" pot ASAP.

Why is it doing that? Did it get injured on the side? You post a lot of great photos and your plants don't normally exhibit this trait.

I'm not sure there's anything wrong with it, though I confess I don't know what caused it to grow that way. It sort of gradually turned, rather than falling over all at once.

By far my smallest adult plant: Drimia acarophylla, the Dog Tick plant because the leaves are the size of dog ticks. Rolling on the floor laughing It grew 1 leaf last year so maybe another this year? This could also be the world's most exciting plant. Whistling

From the side, its kind of stretched teardrop shaped but its difficult to see from the side because it wants to have the bulb buried. When I was checking my spelling, I actually found a couple photos I posted here in the Cactus Forum but hadn't put in the database. I may have to fix that...

Dudleya seedlings on the balcony ... this pot in nearly day-long sun.

A cropped version showing cellular detail on a seed leaf.

Thumb of 2022-02-05/Baja_Costero/dec356

The biggest plant is 16mm (about 2/3 of an inch) across.

The seeds are tiny, but the young seedlings make up for that by growing fast.

They do seem to grow fast. Faster than Aeoniums. Just curious, but how old is the seedling shown above?

They mostly sprouted around the time of the first rains, so late December or maybe a few weeks sooner. So maybe 8 weeks max?
