I am working on a painting of a yak at the moment. The palette is black and white, but I'm not sure if I'm going to add yellow daisies for an extra color. We'll see how it goes

I've been making twig pencils, clipping shrubs near our place, drilling them, and tapping in leads of different hardness. So far I've used Russian olive, redosier dogwood, lilac, and serviceberry.



Gave away quite a few for Christmas.

next project-repainting 2 metal moon/sun garden stakes. neighbor said to take them because they had faded. nothing some spray paint and craft paint won't cure. a spritz of poly and they'll be good to go.

Did you finish it?

No…I'm afraid to finish it. I'm worried I'm going to ruin it! It looks really nice right now, but I've been procrastinating. I've finished so many others, but this one…nope. I will do it someday for sure though!

Another story of my drawing life! But hey, don't feel afraid to finish it! You can always try again in the future if it's one you'd really like to see put together.

That's certainly true!! I really do want to see this one come together…I'll probably do it for the summer. Work on it everyday until I'm done

Yes, the second painting is supposed to look kind of like the northern lights with stars. Almost like a galaxy.

Have you watched Bob Ross paint? He makes pretty cool mountains but he usually sticks snow on a lot of them.

I do a bit of carving. Here's a traditional design, carved in a scrap of maple from a piano factory, to mount on a doorpost, to ward off evil:



This is a Mäori design, a spiral (koru) that represents the unfolding of a fern frond (new life) and repeated, the whorls formed by a paddle in the sea, which refers to the ancestral canoe migration to Aoteoroa (New Zealand) c.800 BP.



I used an antique sample cedar chest.

Anne, I have seen Bob Ross paint! It's absolutely amazing how quickly and yet beautiful and realistic he does it.😮 I will definitely show you my sketches of mountains.
