Another pattern on variegated foliage, different colors on and around venation. creating nerves, bones, or webs on beautiful leaves. Please share yours

A Dieffenbachia, do not know what variety this one is, the bone pattern I love much

An unidentified plant, it looks bit like member of Ipomoea, non woody, but need to see the flower in the future

Strangely, that P. lux is kind of loving my climate, I'm in tropical highland. I got it last year and all ready propagate twice for trading with friends. Most friend in lower elevation struggles with P. lux. May be they prefer cooler temp.
I struggle with many lowland plants, even Anthurium clarinervium will always dies slowly at my garden

I am having a hard time identifying the differences between different "velvet philodendron"(?)
Maybe it's because I've never felt them or noticed anything on the petioles Confused

Yes they can be very look a like, if you can see them on flesh, and touch them, they are really different, details, texture, and all.

P. luxurian has round, very thick, fleshy petioles, smooth, no hair at all. back of leaves reddish especially on young. They really are velvety on touch, and kind of fleshy leaf blade.

The color perhaps bit similar with P. El Choco Red ( P. Rubrijuvenilum). but in my opinion P. El Choco Red is not so velvety at touch, thin leaf blade. The Petiole bit warty, thinner but sturdy

Also, smaller plant sometime are very difficult to distinguished, Some bad seller use this to trick buyer.

This is a photo showing Philodendron luxurians next to Philodendron gloriosum, which it is believed to be most closely related to. Gloriosum has been known forever, but luxurians has been only recently discovered and described. The leaves are similar, but different....Luxurians is a totally different shade of green. Gloriosum tends to be darker, and the veining is different too
Thumb of 2022-02-21/Gina1960/689bd9

The petioles of both are striated, but where gloriosum is fully terete from where it leaves the stem to the attachment at the leaf blade, luxurians has a 'groove' for a few inches up the petiole. Gloriosum

What people really refer to when they refer to 'velvet' aroids are ones that are generally very dark in pigment and have a 'sheen' that reflects light. Some people think that they actually FEEL velvety. But I personally don't really find that to be true.
This is an example of 'velvety'...Anthurium forgetii reflecting the light

Aglaonema rotundum is quite distinct among Aglaonemas with it's reddish coloration and white or red veins. This characteristic often appears on its hybrids as well
Few natural occuring hybrids of A rotundum x A pictum. Both species has overlaping habitat, and sometimes hybrid occurs naturally.

Tofi I have had an Anthurium papillilaminum do that! Its so weird when it happens.
Anthurium besseae x magnificum. Mine carries a gene for super silver veining that looks like the first photo. When they look 'normal' they look like the 2nd picture

Same amount. I bought one plant years ago circa 2003/4 off of an eBay vendor. It started out like the normal one. I only know of one other person who bought the same plant at the same time from the same eBay seller, a fellow old time collector of aroids who lives in Hawaii. Hers is normal and has never exhibited this trait. If other people have a plant from the same seller that still exists (and there must be a few, I think there were maybe 5-6 plants sold) they do not appear to be in the online plant community at large. This plant offsets I wouldn't say frequently but easily, and I have divided it several times over the years. I first saw this mutation several years ago and separated the offset off immediately to grow out separately. It was a stable trait, and all offsets produced by this first one have been high silver. Further, I pollinated some other anthuriums to hybridize them (forgetii, Mehani, magnificum) and the children of the FORGETII so far also can carry this trait. (photos 3,4) (I put the pollen from the silver plant onto the forgetii, the forgetii made the seeds...photos 1,2). Some years ago, an anthurium called Selby Silver came around, it was a plant that seemed to be a spontaneous mutation/hybrid of a crystallinum that was found in the collections of the Marie Selby Gardens. It resembles mine superficially but there are differences.
