Does anyone know what type of weeds are these? The blooms are pretty!

I wish our HOA will let us grow blooming weeds! I would have a beautiful lawn full of flowering weeds that butterflies, dragonflies and bees would enjoy !

The blue one may be a Asiatic Dayflower. The pink one maybe Toadflax. Did you take photos of the rest of the plant.

I did not but I will take photos tomorrow. If leaves were only smaller on the blue one, I would collect it for my mini garden. Hilarious! Hilarious!

Looks like Commelina virginica

Toadflax

These aren't weeds, They're wildflowers!
Doesn't the HOA know that?

Let's teach them better...

I wouldn't consider them weeds either.

Thank you both! Yes, I just realized that the big leaves don't belong to the blue bloom D'Oh! Both names maybe correct? Here is the picture of the plant and perfect for my miniature garden.

Yes, and in FL, the lawns are weeds anyway but got to have that "approved grass" for the lawn or we get a ticket!

Oh I believe we have those and I thought they were weeds! They reminded me of morning glories in some way, even though I know they aren't.

With the addition of leaves, change of ID - the blue flowered plant is a Tradescantia, not Commelina.

If the second leaf photo goes with the pink flowers, still Toadflax.

I agree, the second plant looks like Toadflax (Linaria species, there are a couple that are natives.

On second thought, probably Commelina, just not the one I suggested first. Hilarious!

I'm up to my eyeballs in creating document templates so I can't go in depth right now but the blue one isn't C. communis (Asiatic dayflower) because that plant has a translucent 3rd petal. Your bloom has 3 blue petals. It will probably grow too large too quickly to be of value in a mini garden. But if the blooms are big enough, could be appealing in a hanging pot.

The hairy leaves around it in the 1st pic may be Cerastium tomentosa.

No, not C. communis.

There are a couple with three petals but Gigi, check to see if all the flowers are 3-petaled or just the one you photographed. Also, is it climbing or running? Or just sitting?

Look at Commelina diffusa, a native.

Thank You! all, I will update tomorrow and I will dig up a few. They are only a couple inches tall and I think all have 3 petals.

Including a scale object like a pencil or ruler in one of the pics helps too.

Commelina diffusa is a dayflower with three petals that is present in Florida. I can't really make a good comparison of the characteristics from the pictures though.

Judging by the two blue & small white center petal barely visible, it may be the Whitemnouth Dayaflowers I have, Commelina erecta (susp. erecta). It grows wild every year spring-summer down at our our 42 acres in Central (Gause) Tx.

It looks like the flower has three blue petals, not two if I am seeing it right.
Here is a map showing the range of different dayflower species in the US.
http://bonap.net/Napa/TaxonMap...

I have C. communis in my yard and it is an aggressive spreader. I pull it out but maybe some of these other species are better behaved.
