I am going to experiment with my two Gruenrand rosettes. Spray one with Configure and the other let nature take it's course. I so want more of this plant, it has such an elegant beauty.

I like that idea Lynn! I've been debating getting some, if my hens don't begin putting out babies by mid April, I'm gonna get some and plan to spray them all - what can I say, I want me some chicks man! Shrug! Rolling on the floor laughing

Be careful what you wish for Greg. Just ask me. Whistling
Last fall I was so thankful that Cynda came over and helped me thin. And that Oregon Garden wanted them. Smiling
I was so relieved when it was all done. Cynda was a life saver for sure.

I'm not familiar with that product so i googled it,i would have probably learned a lot if i was a schooled botanist or something to that affect. Shrug!
If anyone else wants to see or read or just skim through this theses on growing succulents here's the link. http://scholar.lib.vt.edu/thes...

If i get put on bed rest again anytime soon and there's absolutely nothing to do i may try to look at it again but it is 77 pages long. Rolling on the floor laughing And i found out absolutely nothing about configure!!

Lynn,if you wouldn't mind what exactly is it and what is it used for?
Lynn,if you ever have more plants than you can deal with again,i may live to far to help thin but am willing to pay to have them mailed.(just saying)

Sorry to get off topic but if i had a question about pest, fungus, plant problems where do i ask it? In the forum of the type of plant that has the problem maybe? Shrug! Whistling

That's a great article Jelinda. Thank you so much. I read part of it and will read more later. I bookmarked it for reference material.

Clint has a lot more knowledge on this product than I do. I am new to it.
I do understand it causes more branching in some plants. It is a growth regulator. I am hoping it will cause my S. 'Gruenrand' to produce many offsets instead of just one or two.
It's been raining so I haven't been able to start the experiment yet. Friday is suppose to be dry and sunny, hope to start the experiment then. Hurray!
Keeping my fingers crossed for many offsets on the treated Gruenrand.

Here is a great place to post questions on pest, disease, etc. It is an article called 'Growing Pains'. Twit usually oversees it. Some great reading material in the threads. If you ever want to go to it just go to the Sempervivum home page. Over on the right side of the page is some information, there you will find 'Growing Pains'. Thumbs up

Lynn, Be sure to separate the plants. Two different locations, so there is no over spray or cross contamination. That will give you the best information from your experiment.

Yes, that is what we call "controls" for the experiment. It would be even better if you could use say, three plants for the controls and three for the test subject. Even though you need to separate the two groups you should aim for the exact same conditions of light, water etc. Then of course Configure only for the test subjects. Plants should be about the same size and condition to start out.

My problem is I only have two plants, and one tiny offset on one of them. The two mature rosettes are the same size.
I had already thought about building a cardboard spray booth around the test subject, so I would have any drift to anything else in the neighborhood of the test plant.
Tomorrow begins the experiment.
I will mark my calendar and note any changes to both plants. Hmmmm, maybe I should detach the one year old offset and make it a test subject also?
