Ag modestum ? My boss gave me this for rehab. The soil is nice, I think she up-potted in not too distant past hoping to revive a plant simply suffering low light. No bugs.
>>>
Later..
I hadn't really completed my post there.. Apparently she has given up all parental rights to this thing so I am going to see what is in that pot.. Repot a more appropriate size and let it fill in for summer I guess.
Plant it and they will come.

Here is what practically fell put of the pot of loose soil. Weird to me.

I snapped the longer stems and ended up planting these two pots.

Nice find! I haven't seen this plant @ a store for a very long time, decades. Used to be so common in the funeral arrangements. Do you have a pic of the "finished product?"

Freaky! Looks like exactly something I would do. : ) This plant makes big, fat roots, as you may have noticed from what was in the other pic. I believe you'll be seeing a bunch of them soon. That cup is a great idea for a rooter pot, for that reason. Probably why you chose that.

I pot all stuff like that in clear plastic drink cups that I make my family save for me from restaurants and take out coffee LOL Cheap, and you can see everything that's going in in there. They should MAKE clear pots like that for us. But the cups are free

If you want to cut one and stick it in the shade somewhere, you'll probably get an explosion of new stems like I usually do. So much faster than in a pot, usually.

It looks like the roots weren't digging the old soil. Good catch on getting them out of there. You could ground those as-is, or cut first, or put back in pot with fresh soil. You might need to put a few rocks around the soil surface to hold them steady while they get their feet back under them, especially in a pot.

These are the parts all in shade and I'm sure summer will encourage them. Natural humidity, air, and rain.

About 6 weeks later...
Long cuttings are rooting. Showing rot on cut ends. I added more perlite, trimmed rotted ends, potted back up loosely.
Smaller cuttings in cup are the same.
None have quite put put a new leaf but looks close.

Big question is, I think the yellow color in the stems means systemic rot and will the cuttings ever clear that completely? Doubtful.
Plant it and they will come.

Interesting, great pics.

The new roots look good, but the yellowing is disconcerting.

Are they all showing that? Any healthy plants to check what its root look like?

Time will tell, best of luck!

Going back to first posts. What I started with looks like round 1 of this same thing. There was no root ball. Just stems trying to root. She had given me two pots in similar condition. All with the yellow color and all just not showing any real top growth. In limbo. Shrug!
Plant it and they will come.
