Hi,

I just started gardening last year and have taken a liking to sedums Grin
Picked up a few at the end of the year that where going dormant and have planted a few in gravel down the sides of a path. Now I'm in the process of turning a small corner of the garden over to sedums. Probably bought too many for the area I have but will worry about that as time goes by. Really like the sunsparkler range so have picked up a few of those and also acquired a mixed pack for next to nothing but unsure if they are all sedums. As I live in Scotland the weather is not ideal, bit damp just now Hilarious! I will no doubt have many questions for you all as I'm sure I'll need advice. Sorry for a ramble of a first post.

Thanks
Alan.

Welcome! to the NGA! I am elated to hear that you are hooked on Sedum too ;)
Please show us some photos! :-)
Sedum has been split up to several genus, here is a thread about it.

Thank you Sedumzz, I'll get some photo's at the weekend, hopefully will have completed my wee sedum garden by then Big Grin

Thanks for the link, I just put in a couple of Hylotelephium (sp) last night to finish off the planting. Biggest challenge has been getting somewhere that gets enough sun as the garden is surrounded by houses, been sawing branches off shrubs to make room underneath, will probably have to do a bit more as they grow Sad

Teehee!! Hopefully you get those branches under control!

I am transplanting all of my Sedum and Sempervivum into a new bed this week~~~ What a coincidence! My old bed had a maple tree starting to shadow it.

sedums are hard to kill (I have tried) and are a great plant to grow.
Plants are like that little ray of sunshine on a rainy day.

Last one is with some semps. Would be grateful if someone could tell me what this plant is. Came in a pack of sedum but can't find out what it is.

Beautiful babies! They look awesome. Where are you from? What state/zone? If you live in a high enough zone you can take cuttings after they bloom, root them over the winter, and grow new babies!

Hi Sedumzz, I live in Scotland so a little worried about the lack of sun 😂 Thanks for the advice, I'll try that, my old mum was asking about them so I'll take some cuttings for her.

Ahh. I see. Do you know how cold it gets? If so, that could help time cuttings that won't affect the dormancy.

Look forward to reading that, could be a good idea to take cuttings before the winter.

Yea that's one of the best times to take cuttings. Before the Hylo's die back, after the blooms finish

Just Googled Crusty Saxifraga and they certainly look very similar, thanks.

I'll wait and see if it flowers, been planted for about 6 weeks and it's not really done anything, including grow Smiling
