What a surprise I had this morning. This brom has been around forever and never bloomed for me. Due to some surgery I have been stuck in the house since the beginning of August and had no idea what was going on outside. I was in the wheel chair in my driveway "supervising some weeding" and I looked over and at a bed and saw these flowers. Hurray! I know I have had Billberiga Hallelujah and Pink Champagne but I don't think this is either one. I have no idea how long this has been in flower. Maybe I'll find the label one day.

Beautiful Alice, might be B. Casa Blanca, it can get nice pink tones when it's in the perfect light. My Casa Blanca hardly ever blooms, but sure does have nice foliage colors, especially when the nights get cooler.

I know it came from Tropiflora, long before we ever moved to FL, it was one I brought with me. The flowers are sure similar but Trop's description says deep green and this one has always been dark pink/red.

I have three Casa Blancas and they for the most part are dark green with white spots, taking on hues of pink in the cooler months or brighter light. I have one though that has always had a pink coloring all year, but then it came from a box store, so who knows what it really is...LOL

I found an old excel spreadsheet inventory and saw where I had a Bil. Tarantella that came from Tropiflora. That may be the one. Crossing Fingers!

I have Tarantella, that came from Bird Rock, and yes could very well be. I kept trying to think what billbergia has all spots and keeps that coloring all year, Tarantella does. I can't remember the flowers, I have only had mine maybe three years. I'll get a pic when it gets light out.

Here's Tarantella, as you can see it has cross banding on outside of leaves

Also the flowers are green, with pink bracts.
Usually mine has more red colors , but summer heat and so much rain, keeping it on the greener side.

Thinking No cross banding that I can see on this one, I can't get up close right now, I had zoomed for the pics, but the backs look all spotty in the photos. The greenish leaves that can be seen in the last photo are a different plant behind this one. The mystery Bil is all pink-ish all over. Shrug!

Well it sure is pretty, I don't have any that completely blushing like that now, so much rain, I think it is even washing the spots away LOL.

The Casa Blanca seems to be a cousin to the mystery plant. They have the same spots all over coloring and where yours is red they are identical. I do not recall ever having any green over at least 7 years, maybe longer, and it went from my SC home to the rental then this house. All with different lighting.

I am in a wheelchair right now and can't get up close but as we were backing out of the driveway today I noticed from the car that the flowers appear to be a dark purple or blue. DH is really stressed out because I took another tumble today so I don't want to ask him to take a photo for me, he is already doing plenty . Whistling

Alice, Does the name 'Moulin Rouge' ring a bell?
The leaf coloration looks like my 'Moulin Rouge' that I grow in very high sun conditions.

Hope you feel better soon. 🙏

(Edit to add photo of current flowering)

Wow, that does look close and if it is currently flowering that is another hint. Maybe I will bribe the spouse to go out and take a pic for me. Hilarious!

Alice do be careful, has to be hard being stuck in a wheelchair. I'm pretty sure I have Moulin Rouge somewhere, all mine are pretty green right now with all this rain. Looking up on Internet, that would be a good bet.

Thanks, I do try but I seem to get clumsier the older I get. Shrug!

I think we have a winner, my sweet and horribly overworked spouse took a pic for me. Sure looks like Moulin Rouge. I do not have tht one in any inventory but I did buy a bunch of noids from the bargain bin at Tropiflora years ago.
