I have tried a few techniques, including seeding in snow over soil. The trick is not cover seeds by soil, they need light to grow.

That's helpful, thank you very much. I think I have plenty of time to do them outside, if I can find some seeds, then get the timing right. If I go to a store with seeds before it gets too warm in the spring, I'll look for Petunia.

Beautiful blooms Elena! I have never been successful at petunia seed germination. I suspect the seeds didn't stay moist at some point. Do you have a means of dealing with moisture during germination?

After seeding and spraying with the water I placed the lid and keep eyes on condensation process. After a few days I am starting to open a small holes and let it vent. Every other day I am opening more and let it seat longer. After about 2 weeks I am removing the lid completely.

That is a pretty petunia. The fragrant one I have is a dark purple. I had saved seeds with no success at germination. I may have to try that container. It looks like a good option. Thanks so much.

I do not collect seeds, all of my are hybrids, you never know what you got. Professional seeds are all in a special cover, made them easy to handle and grow.

I let mine self seed in drifts. I like to put new hybrids in pots (for a more predictable display), this makes those genetics available to my volunteers.
