This still has buds but now yellowing, most likely in response to last week's dip in temps to below 50's plus I withheld watering for a few days during cold snap:

And Mrs Rose was just lush and green now showing signs of going dormant.

We are back to high of 80s and lows mid 60s this week.

Yes, the flowers still look good and I still gave it a sip because tomorrow will be 80s. But I need to be careful and make sure that they don't stay too wet.

My first winter with Adeniums. I am in NM and my GH faces south, day time temps can reach into the 90s in the GH and I keep the nights around 60. Is this to high for Adeniums to go into dormancy? I need to keep these temps for my other plants. I am now concerned about how to water. Some of the plant are still growing stems and leaves, some in full flower, some the leaves are yellow and falling off. I use James potting mix so it drains very quickly These plants have done really thru the summer .hate to kill any.

shorter hours of sunlight + cooler potting media triggers dormancy ...when longer hours of sunlight + warmth return next spring ...new growth will resume

over watering will kill adeniums .... watering when dormant will kill adeniums ...

water up to the point - where leaves yellow and seem to drop off in mass ....this can be misleading... so, keep an eye on stem tips .... if stem tips are bare of new growth, or any growth at all .....stop watering ....together, yellowing leaves and zero stem tip growth, signals dormancy has began ...

while plants are in dormancy ...do not water ...do not fertilize

plants may shrink or shrivel .... the caudex may get noticeably "slimmer" ...leaves may appear "deformed" or "crinkled"

mark the day on a calendar ... then wait 90 days .... if no new growth ...wait another 90 days ...repeat if necessary

if any sign of new growth emerges ...then only water those plants with new growth - but only water, less than, the total volume of pot ....if plant is in a pot about the size of 1 cup measuring cup - water about 3/4 cup ...no more

some plants loose all leaves, some might keep half ....others might keep all of them

Congratulations if your desert roses are blooming right now. I have no experience on overwintering an adeniums so I will let @deepsouth respond.

I have already learned with my Adeniums, either they fully defoliate or they may retain some leaves, they may even bloom while indoors, but still it is considered dormant. I just keep them dry all throughout, no watering. Got to wait patiently for Spring for new leaf growth before I can resume watering.

At times in late winter to early Spring, I may start amending media if needed, trim roots/some branches if I have too, since I want to keep using same container, lifting the caudex a bit, still no watering if still dormant. Just kept positioned by our south facing window to get all the warmth and sunlight it can get. Test of patience in waiting Smiling

Got to wait for outdoor temps to show stable overnight temps of 50F and higher before I let it go outdoors again, and typically this would be by late April to early May in my area.

I was reading old posts of the previous members where they sometimes totally keep their desert roses bare root, hanging to dry for a month, and they may sometimes bloom.

Adeniums
Hey ,
Need help,
As we faced cyclone last week. I moved my adeniums inside . They were completely dry. I watered . After a day or so lower leaves started turning yellow and falling off. There was a dip in the temp as well. Have moved them again outside. I am worried . Caudex looks firm. Do I need to remove from the dirt and check the roots for rot. Or it can be dormancy also? In dormancy leaves will turn yellow or they have brown edges also.

It is normal for leaves to turn yellow when they are going dormant but not sure if true, that if leaves turn yellow and you touch them they fall easy then it is normal. If they don't fall easy, might have a root rot issue going on.
