We came from here
The thread "Our Orchid blooms in October 2022 💨" in Orchids forum

Today is November 1. and with that we need a new thread for the month!
Let me start with my Ceratostylis retisquama. It was declining quite a bit and lost some old growth, but then it decided to tell me it "it's alliiiive" by throwing out some blooms.

Hi
Figured out why I could not post the image. Here is an image of Cattleya El Dorado from Bela Vista Orchids. Again, unable to post.
I think it is a CR2 image

I was hoping to start the month with my Rlc Taida Eagle Eye 'All Victory', but it decided to be better open today.

It has a lovely scent too!

I see mostly pink and red Cattleyas in our area. I have an orange one that is very fragrant but growing wild on my oak tree.

It use to be Epidendrum porpax. But now it has a different genus name which I can't seem to recall at the moment.
If you google Epi. porpax, it should come up.

Andy's Orchids has it as Nanodes porpax.

Here is my first flower for the month of November, this is Phragmipedium Inca Embers 'Max' AM/AOS! This is a medium sized Phragmipedium and I know it flowered last year with several blooms in succession.

I have no idea as to why but I am very partial to reds, oranges and pinks when it comes to Phrags. This plant was outside from mid May until early October and I honestly thought that I might lose the inflorescence. It did go down twice to the mid 30's before it came inside. It is growing in my big front window underneath a light strip. Several of them spend the winter here.
This is Phrag. Andean Fire X Phragmipedium longifolium.

I like the size of the flower, about 4 1/2" wide, color is really a deep, kind of blood red if you will. The inner rim of the pouch is a rich bright yellow with intense Cardinal red spots! I feel that the overall form is quite nice and well balanced.

Can you tell me what this is? I got it from Gold Country several years ago. The tag has faded to beyond readable. Thank you!

There is no real way for me to say with 100% certainty.
There are three plants that immediately come to mind.
Dendrobium convolutum which is a green and purple flowered species.
It could be Dendrobium Andree Millar which is a green and purple flowered hybrid. Dendrobium convolutum is one of the parents of that hybrid.
The third one I thought of is another hybrid called Dendrobium Little Green Apples.

Exactly which plant you have is difficult to say.

I lean towards the last one I mentioned.

Why not enclose an image within an e-mail to Alan Koch over at Gold Country Orchids? He is very likely to give you a proper name because there is a very good chance he would remember selling little green flowered Dendrobiums.
