I forgot we needed a new forum for 2023.

Happy New Year everyone!

Well, I have put on 20 lbs. since I broke my ribs in early October, partly because my physical activity went from good to almost nothing, and because I haven't had a cigarette since I broke my ribs, and there's nothing like food if you can't smoke. So, you know what my New Year's resolution is.

Looks like it could be a very nice day if they are correct with the forecast. 40 degrees now going to 51 under mostly sunny skies.

Another nice weather day today.

Last night lost power for about an hour. Don't know why. No wind or rain in the middle of the night. But came back on quickly so I guess all is well.

Happy New Year to you all! I don't have broken ribs, just a sweet tooth in the winter months, so a good resolution for me would be to stay away from the cookies....but I don't see that happening! Temp is 50 right now, another warm day which is a blessing.....

Lovely today. Did the longer version of the exercise walk with my dog and my friend and her dogs. Sat out on her porch visiting for a while. '
'Came home and moved around some tomato cages.

Finally got the chicken run cleaned out and added new saw dust.

Started a new compost pile down at the food forest.

Cleaned the two bird feeders in the backyard and put new seed in.

Went down to the pond in the FF. The water is perfectly clear. The fish are almost stationary as they winter on the bottom in what looks like a suspended animation.

Now, I can see the ton of leaves that had blown into the pond during the Fall and were at the bottom. I got about 1/4 of them netted out before the turbulence made it hard to see them. I'll wait until the water settles and get another bunch out. I'll keep doing that until I have as many as I can get out. The leaves, as they decompose, would create tons of nutrients for algae to grow. Not good.

Also got Santa's sled and 8 Reindeer taken down. I'll lug them down to the bottom of the 2-story shed for storage tomorrow. They're not heavy, just cumbersome.

Beautiful afternoon to be outside. I know it was only mid-50's, but I didn't even wear a jacket.

I had brought some herbs home with me after we cleared Mom's house for sale. They had been in the window of my dining room. They are now in the basement under my grow light and set on a timer. They should be fine there till they can go back outside.
In the low 50's here today. We had family over for New Year's dinner. They are now on their way home, stuffed with food and great conversation.

Allison, I'm sorry. I didn't know (don't remember) you broke your ankle. That must have been painful.

33 now, going to 55, but mostly cloudy. Tuesday and Wednesday, rain.
