I am hoping my tomatoes for 2023 do very well. And I need them too because I plan to cut back some on my number of plants. Just getting too old to take care of too many.

Oh wgat a subject. Everyone might have a different one for favorites.

I myself just love the taste of black tomatoes. But for a great all around slicer that is easy to find plants of (a hybrid) at the nursery try Better Boy.

LOVE TOMATOES: I live in Florida year round .....climate zone 9a.........and i'm looking for information on how to grow tomatoes successfully in the EXTREME heat of the summer months. When temperatures reach 95 degrees week after week, month after month, what can be done? SHADE CLOTH seems to be the answer. .........

(shade cloth) I want to know what to buy, where to buy it, and how to use it. The optimum temperature for tomato growing is 65 degrees - 85 degrees. Please reply if you know how to do it.............

@boilinfrog - I'm probably not the best person to offer advice on this, given where I live, but I think that although shade cloth could definitely be of help to you, for growing tomatoes in Florida you need to adjust the timing so that your plants are setting fruit before the weather becomes too hot. I do grow my tomato plants in a high tunnel type of greenhouse, so I have some experience with excess heat, but hopefully some actual southern growers will be able to help you out here Smiling

I should avoid some of these forums!
Today I went to the Victory Seeds, and ordered several of the dwarf varieties. They seem to be all above 70 days so I will do some early tomatoes too.

One of my Heinz Ketchup Classic Tomato seeds FINALLY came up, I was gonna replant but now I guess I won't have to. I may plant another seed or two. Is that variety in this forum's plant log? I looked for it and its not there so can I add it to the database if the varieties not listed in another name I don't know of?
