The paphs are just gorgeous, I like their mottled foliage, too. How cute is the baby bird there!

Your 'Hawaiian Green Valley' sure looks a lot like a digbyana, too. Does it smell heavenly? My digbyana was very happy last year and put out three fat buds that were then eaten by a rat that got into the pool cage one night. Since then it has declined sadly. I'm going to have to replace it asap, as it's one of my favorite perfumes of all the orchids.

Spathoglottis still pumping out blooms, and putting up new growth now, too.

I wish I could pop Spathoglottis into the ground here!! Pretty!!

I actually have a digbyana, it was a plant I inherited about 30 years ago. I had it mounted for years, it bloomed then ca 3 times and then declined. A couple of years ago I took it off the mount and it starts looking better again, but no blooms. Now these digbyana hybrids flower regularly for me. Much easier than the species, no surprise. It is not easy to duplicate Savanna conditions in NJ? Smiling And this one smells great too!! And it always gets two blooms at a clip.
Rats? That is just infuriating!!

Ursula, I'm thinking you could grow Spathoglottis but you'd have to keep them in pots and bring them into your greenhouse in winter like you do for your other tender orchids. Not sure if they'd survive the winter treatment with your succulents in the garage, though. Mine live in the hoop house area pretty much all year round now. They're obviously happy with that location and the few days of cold protection they get in winter.

Is that an April Fool's joke? I'm trying to see the orchid in your orchid. I googled and nothing comes up with that name. Confused

Beautiful blooms Ursula and Lindsey!

I don't have a lot blooming but I was surprised of this teeny cutting that I broke off my Glorious May. It bloomed!

I uploaded it to the database so I can track its progress. I am encouraged to try and propagate more of these:

Oh my that is pretty too Joyce! Lovey dubby I should really step up my game on my Phals. They used to have beautiful blooms but I think they are not happy with their current set up. They are due for repotting.

Just lovely, Joyce. I'm not a big Phal grower because all my orchids live outside, and it's hot for them out there in summer. But I have one big combo mount that blooms nicely each year for me, then I have to find a cool breezy spot for it out in the garden for the rest of the year. A big purple that was a gift, and some little mini-Phals that seem to be much more tolerant of the heat.

And the Den anosmums are just about finished already, weather's getting very warm the next few days, and they're short-lived anyway. But I hung them up right at nose level so I'd be able to sniff them every time I walked by. Yummy fragrance.

No blooms yet but I thought I would post this for interest. This is our native Green Fly orchid, Epidendrum magnoliae. They grow way up on big trees here in the hardwood hammock. You rarely see them from the ground. Mostly they are found when a big oak or hickory falls down either naturally or in a storm.
My neighbor had to take down a big hickory that was in decline and threatening his house, and he found 4 colonies of Green Fly on the trunk! He gave me 2. This is one of them

Lucky you, the flowers are adorable. I heard a speaker once explaining that they can be grown "at sea level" in an environment like your greenhouse.

I had a little start of it years ago that bloomed and grew for a couple of years, and even set seed pods. I had been told that they naturally like to grow in with colonies of Resurrection fern, on branches of oak trees. I have tons of the fern colonies, but if they did set up shop up there, I can't see them. No wonder, those leaves are less than 2in. long.

The flowers are like tiny, dime-sized Cattleya and they're very fragrant, too. Beautiful.
Thumb of 2023-04-04/dyzzypyxxy/e66539 This pic from July 2015 - they've since gotten lost in my jungle, unfortunately.
