As a comment about Species Iris (Iris tectorum), LoriMT wrote:

Iris tectorum is a vigorous grower in my 7b north Georgia garden. From a small root transplant which I bought from the local Master Gardeners sale, I have propagated it throughout my garden, each transplant growing into a full round and blooming in a single season. It grows in full sun and also part shade equally well, with no watering, no disease, no pests, no fertilizer. I have acidic clay soil. Good "filler" plant, with purple blooms in spring and architectural foliage until frost.

I planted iris tectorum in the last Fall (2022), It hasn't done much yet, but I'm hopeful to get this party started!

All of my iris are just beginning to stretch their leaves, coming out of their winter slumber. Hopefully you are seeing some fresh green leaves reaching through the brown winter foliage. I sometimes tear off the brown foliage at this time to make for a better presentation of the spring show.
