Grumbling I am having a devil of a job keeping my green house below 90f during the day, the nights here are still below 50f so I can not put my plants out side. I have shade cloth and a good extraction fans, the humidity here is around 10 (New Mexico) My question is does any body use misters or foggers to get the temp down? My worry is to much water. I have adeniums, cactus and aloes not exactly from the tropics. thanks Bob

90 sounds OK to me.

Yes but my problem is keeping it at 90f. If I hose every thing down I can keep it at 90 but I have to do it 3 or 4 times a day if I miss the temp is up to 115 plus. Any suggestions please.

What is the temp outside when it's getting to 115 in there?

This time of year 80 to 85 but my green house is facing due south. I just installed a temporary misting system { 5 nozzles} temp dropped down from 93 to 85 in about 15 mins but humidity went from 10 to 64 Is this to much for Adenium.

No, they have fabulous Adeniums in FL. But if it is getting the plants wet, that could be a problem.

I always though adeniums loved the heat, come from a region with high heat, and have no problems tolerating even over 100°. But I'm new to keeping them, is that wrong? I really thought it couldn't get too hot for them, that you only had to worry about the cold.

Adeniums
Bob,
You could try using a reflective shade cloth to reduce the temp. It looks like silver foil in a white mesh.
There are also temperature regulated vents that could be installed into the apex ends or roof.

Nancy,
You're correct. Adeniums thrive in heat and sun. Even well over 100 degrees. Remember that they also benefit from frequent watering in the heat of summer. I water mine copiously whenever they dry out in extreme heat.

I will change my shade cloth to reflective. The misters I set under the benches spraying the floor, nothing over the plants. Today have all my plants outside at last, will now experiment with misters in my empty green house. Thanks everybody. PS bought 4 Adeniums from Lowes very large caudex, started to repot all had root rot.

@wiltshire - That's terrible about the root rot. Just an FYI, Lowe's has a plant guarantee, so you should be able to return/exchange the Adeniums.

If you decide to keep it, remove the rots and let it dry for 2 weeks. Some rots travel fast and there is no way to save it. Some seem to heal well and you will not have an issue going forward.

Took the plants back to Lowes and got a refund no problem. They had a new shipment in, so I dug down a little around the caudex all were rotten. Be warned.

Thumbs up so glad you got your money back! I wonder who their adenium vendor is. If it is a new shipment then it is likely that employees of that vendor are not aware not to water them before transporting them, like regular plants.
Our Lowe's didn't have any desert roses this month.

Lowes now have $52 Adeniums they are really healthy I bought two. Repotted today no root rot at all. This is the first time I have seen them this size or colors. I'll try and take pictures.

Yes please! No wonder why I can't find desert roses anymore in our area they shipped to you.

If you find something like this, this is by far my favorite. This is vanilla scented, get 2 as a back up. I regretted just getting one.

$52?! Over 2x last year? At $25 each, the 2 I bought were major splurges to me. I can't remember ever spending more than $30 on any plant. If Adeniums are that expensive now, I won't be getting any more.

They still have $25 plants these $52 plants are twice the size at least, and different colors. They had 6 plants, I only bought 2, she who must be obeyed was with me. They are well worth the money. I don't expect to see them again.
