I was on Ladybug daylily site today, and I noticed that Dan had "Not Fertile" posted for this daylily.

I actually emailed Hansen to ask. I figured it's not fertile since he has it listed that way on his site. It's more likely someone made a mistake on here than he did on his own page. He just said it wasn't fertile for him. I have to assume that means both ways. That said, it just bloomed for me yesterday, and the pollen looked as perfect as can be on the surface. I am still going to try and use it since I love the color, shape and texture. Can't hurt to try. No picture of the flower since it was party of the not gonna open today party. I'm in Florida. It wasn't that cool.

Anyway, the plants father says it's not fertile. Still gorgeous.

@chrisgreat.
I am probably the one who put that it is pod fertile on the site. I was able to set quite a few pods on it and I have seedlings from those seeds.Nothing with the pollen. I was actually hoping to speak with Dan about that when he was scheduled to speak at the Huntsville club meeting, but he was not able to attend but did send plants.
I saw how he had it listed as not fertile, but I noticed on some of his plants he would state pod or pollen fertile, but if you have the plant try setting some pods.

Sorry, I got that reversed, no pods set but the pollen was fertile. My memory fails me pretty often.

Sorry, I would have responded sooner but the past few days have been weird and I forgot to check the posts.

All he said was "not fertile for me" and that was that. However, then I saw it bloom and I got confused. Like you said, he normally says pod or pollen fertile, if it's just one. I'm still not to the point of having my own seedlings growing, so I'm new. However, the pollen really looked great to me. The first flower didn't take, and the second is still holding on after a couple days. The next time I have a few red types bloom, I'm going to try and use the pollen. I hope it works since the flower is awesome. I obviously liked it so much I kept forgetting that I meant to not get it since it wasn't fertile. I meant to get Fire Marshall Bill instead. Well, I ended up with it too since he sent it as a bonus. It's good to hear that you got some results from the pollen. Somehow forgot to take a picture of the second flower which was stunning. While I also love the almost totally round flowers with extra wide petals too, I love how lots of his stuff is shaped.

Thanks for the reply:
I took the time just now to look in my Plant Step program and see what seedlings I showed to have with Chan Dom Vongthirath as a pollen parent.
Dark Burgundy NOID (I don't know the name of this plant but is has been great in my garden)
Violet Horizons
Spacecoast Dark Obsession
Insider Trading
Gossip Girl
Apple Tart
I need to check if I ever get the time and see how many if any of these are still alive and growing.

Well, if it took to that many flowers, I guess it's not infertile after all. It's funny that the person who bred it in the first place hasn't had any luck. Surely he tried both ways. Maybe you are just a bit cooler or a bit shadier? I just know that he says that they don't use shade cloths or green houses so maybe it's a bit touchy and just doesn't like full full sun. I wouldn't think that would affect how the pollen does though.

We will have one in common cross since I just got Insider Trading this year. Got it specifically to work on rust issues. Reeder says it's great for that, plus it's just beautiful and apparently performs great. Considering it was bred right here in town, it should be happy here.

Hopefully I'll have some luck with it too. Maybe I'll let him know if I do, just so he knows. It's just really weird. Surely he would have tried using it a bunch, at least for a season. I can't imagine that he got it mixed up with something else. I also don't see you getting lucky that many times with that many plants. A single miracle pod, or maybe even a single perfectly compatible plant, sure. That many from such a wide range of ages? Either way, very interesting.

Well, off to water it and tag today's flowers. Too many tags. Will soon be switching to wires. I also wish Chan Dom had bloomed today. It's been nice and partly/mostly cloudy most of the day. It even sprinkled a little bit this morning. I've heard they like that, and it seems to be true from what I've seen.

Hope all your seedlings are still going. It will be interesting to see what they look like with Chan Dom's RED color. Fire Marshall Bill hasn't bloomed yet, but Parting The Red Sea has for a couple years, and it is probably the reddest flower I have. Chan Dom Vongthirath was right there.

My 'Fire Marshall Bill' has bloomed but my Chan Dom Vongthirath has not yet bloomed this year.

Well, it is definitely pollen fertile. I know I have a few small sets of seeds from it now. I haven't cataloged them properly yet, due to laziness, so I can only remember one. It worked with Ruby Falls which might be kind of nice. The only problem with them is that I accidentally made a seed from SC Satisfaction/Fringy jump in with them. I have to hope that seed is the only one that makes a big edge so I can tell it apart. Either way, definitely pollen fertile and my plants only get some mid to late afternoon shade. Maybe the pollen just isn't strong enough to deal with all day full sun? Either way, kind of interesting that he says it's not fertile, period. I think he has stuff listed as either pollen or pod fertile but not both ways. Interesting.
